James may leave Burton in May

Former Hereford United defender Tony James may leave Burton at the end of the season but until then will hope to play as many games as possible for the Brewers especially after a good performance against Chesterfield last Friday evening.

"It’s been a frustrating season for me and all you can do is do your best and hope that you play again next week," James told the Burton Mail.

Hereford tried to bring James back to Edgar Street in early January.

"The gaffer kept saying to me ‘look, I don’t really want you to go, we’ve got a lot of games, you’re gonna play’.

"It’s not nice hearing that all the time, ‘you’re gonna play’ and then you’re not, but then we’ve only played sort of four league games since the end of November, so it’s not his fault."

So what about his future?

"The summer’s a long way off when you look at the table and all the games, but we’ll just see how it goes.

"I enjoy playing here and I love being with the lads it makes my long drive in every day far easier when I’m with the lads and when I’m playing.

"That’s the most difficult thing for me, when you’re travelling in day in, day out and you’re not involved — it’s very difficult to keep your head up."
