News Round Up

Darlington's owner has threatened to walk away from the club after the company that owns the stadium went into receivership. Raj Singh, who says he has put £2.5million into the Quakers since taking over in 2009, says that a £1.7million debt owed by the stadium company should have been settled by former club owner George Houghton. Houghton says Singh, who held 75% of the stadium company, was responsible for the debt. The creditors have put the company into receivership in order to recover funds now totalling over £2million after turning down a lesser offer from Singh.

The local press is reporting that Luton's owners are over a year behind repayments to the liquidators of the former Luton club. Luton 2020 should have paid a final installment of £490,000 last January but £135,000 is still outstanding with the club reported to have told liquidators they didn't have the money. The liquidators have the right to issue winding-up proceedings against the new owners.

Gloucester City say they will submit plans for a new community stadium back in the city by the end of the month. They have been homeless since the 2007 floods wrecked their Meadow Park home, but hope to be in the new ground when their current groundshare with Cheltenham ends in the summer of 2012. Hartlepool fans are concerned that council bus cuts will impact on attendances. The local council are to cut most bus routes past 6.30pm on weeknights to save money, meaning that some fans will not be able to get to games.

Port Vale fans say they have received pledges from 500 season ticket holders to not renew their tickets for next season if the current board remain in place. Barnet have extended the loan of Wolves defender John Dunleavy for a second month. The youngster has, so far, only made one sub appearance for the Bees.

Crewe are trialling Faroe Islands winger Rogvi Poulsen. The 21 year old was one of three trialists for the Railwaymen in their reserve match yesterday. Stockport have denied BBC reports that they have approached Port Vale assistant boss Geoff Horsfield about their managerial role. The Hatters have also announced a split in their club board, with one half concentrating on their stadium plans and the other half handling day-to-day matters.

Grimsby are trialling former Bulls loanee striker James Walker. The 23 year old has been without a club since ending a short spell with Leyton Orient in January. Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn will meet with Premier League chiefs on Friday to air his concerns over the lack of consultation over West Ham's move to the Olympic Stadium. He has also asked the Government to delay the confirmation of the move, and threatened to launch a judicial review that would delay plans for several months.
