Three Out, Two In For Gulls

It will be a much changed Torquay side that the Bulls face tonight after a busy deadline day at Plainmoor.

The Gulls sold midfielder Nicky Wroe to Shrewsbury and, more importantly, Elliott Benyon to Swindon, while ending Ashley Hemmings' loan spell from Wolves. All three started the 2-2 draw between the two sides at Edgar Street on New Years Day.

Coming in are ex-Bulls midfielder Craig Stanley and Shrewsbury striker Jake Robinson, both on loan for an initial month. Stanley played against the Bulls a week ago for Morecambe, while Robinson played the full game during November's 4-0 loss at Shrewsbury.

For the Bulls there were four deals done, but only one new face on the pitch. Rob Purdie's loan was converted into a permanent deal, and Joe Heath extended his stay until the end of the season. In came midfielder Harry Pell, from Bristol Rovers, and coach Dave Kevan.

Heath is suspended for tonight's match, with a number of options to replace him. Youngster Tyler Weir may be considered, while Rob Purdie could fill in instead after performing a variety of roles off the bench in recent weeks.

The other full back role will also need to be reviewed with Ryan Green pushing for a recall after struggling to regain his place after his second dismissal of the season. Whether it was a case of punishment for his indiscretion, or simply a case of not wanting to change a winning side, Jamie Pitman will have to consider whether to restore Richard Rose to his more successful midfield role.
