The children of Herefordshire are trying to collect a Million 1 penny pieces. We are collecting them in bank bags of 100 pennies.
On Saturday July 9th we will then be inviting everyone to bring their pennies to Edgar Street where they will be spread over the pitch. Everyone will be invited to come an take part in the experience.
In particular children will have the opportunity to experience and understand just what 1,000,000 is. The whole project is mainly a Maths based thing. However there is a fantastic spin off: the funds raised will go to St Michael’s Hospice and an army charity: The Operational Casualties Fund. 1,000,000 1 penny pieces is equal to £10,000!
We need your help!
On paper we are ¾ of the way there but we need a little more support. If you’d be interested in adding your 1 penny pieces to the effort then you can take you pennies to any of the following schools who are involved: Kimbolton, Bodenham, Sutton, Whitbourne, Wellington, Cannon Pyon, Home Lacy, St Francis, Kings Caple, St. Thomas Cantilupe, Trinity, Colwall, Burghill, Credenhill, Holmer, Marlbrook, Lord Scudamore, Weobley Secondary, Bishops, Lea, Acornbury Centre, Cathedral Junior, Madley, Stretton, Hampton Dene, Burley Gate, Leominster Junior, Longtown, Orleton and Brockhampton.
Please ensure that any pennies taken to schools are given to the people responsible for the collection.
