Bulls Win Radio Licence

The Bulls will launch their own radio station after they successfully bid for the licence to run a Herefordshire community station.

Led by Tim Russon's extensive broadcast experience, the Bulls' bid was the only one to meet the full criteria laid out by Ofcom. The Bulls submitted a plan after the initial acceptance date for bids when it was clear the original candidates had failed to meet the guidelines set down.

The station will broadcast on the 1530AM frequency previously used by Sunshine Radio until 2009. The Bulls plan to broadcast from studios built in the former club offices in Blackfriars Street, using the nearby floodlight pylon as a short-range antennae that will cover an approximate range of 9 kilometers. The station will carry a mix of local news and events, along with music programming.

Programming submitted in the bid includes a politics show featuring former keeper Matt Baker, a sports phone-in hosted by Russon, and a late night debate programme fronted by former MP Paul Keetch. Also included is a Friday night disco set from ferverent Bulls fan Roddy Hankins, while Sunday mornings will be handed over to Janos Kovacs for a mix of eastern-European music and chat.

The station is set to begin broadcast in 12 months time.

(This is, of course, rubbish.)
