Jamie Pitman has told BBC Hereford and Worcester that he hopes his new two year contract at Edgar Street will bring stability to the club.
"Hopefully now I can progress and we can progress as a club," said the Hereford United manager.
"What it does is gives us some stability, the players will see we are trying to move forward.
"It's come at a good time as we still have games coming up and hopefully we are going to get something out of those.
"I'm a young lad, I've still got a lot to learn I know that.
"Hopefully I'll keep as many of the coaching staff as I can depending on the budget.
"We're going to keep it as close-knit as we can as it seems to have worked.
"I think we have good enough players here and good enough staff to progress to something a bit better than we've had this year.
"I need to get my staff tied-down as best I can as ultimately you are only as good as your staff around you. I'd like to keep them."
Asked about how high United can go, Pitman was realistic.
"At the end of the day we are a small club.
"First and foremost we have got to bring some stability to it because it's been a tough transitional year for everybody.
"We need to try and get a mid-table finish and keep progressing."
