Preview: Bulls vs Shrewsbury

The Bulls entertain Shrewsbury Town in a League Two match at Edgar Street on Saturday.

The Bulls will be looking for revenge for the 4-0 demolition they suffered in November, where Jamie Pitman's side were still struggling for a regularity in their play and saw Ryan Green sent off late on. The Bulls have won the last two matches at Edgar Street with last season's encounter, in November 2009, seeing current Bulls loanee Waide Fairhurst score for the Shrews.

The Bulls' confirmation of Jamie Pitman as manager for next season will allow a platform for the club to build on the form of the second half of the season. Today's Hereford Times confirms contract talks with Kenny Lunt, Adam Bartlett, James McQuilkin, and Nicky Featherstone with seven already signed up for next season. There will be at least one change to the recent 4-5-1 formation that has produced results, with Steven Leslie not eligible due to the terms of his loan. Ryan Green is expected to return to the back line to allow Rob Purdie to take Leslie's place.

The Shrews' continued inability to return to League One is now into the eleventh year. Having spent most of the 1980's in what is now the Championship their gradual decline is supposed to have been arrested by the return of the cigar-toting talisman, but the story remains depressingly familiar to Shrews fans. Occasionally brilliant, often frustrating, they have suffered heavy losses to Aldershot and Torquay on the road in recent weeks and another play-off frustration seems on the cards without a storming finish to the season.
