Crawley Fire Warning Shot With Akinde Capture

Crawley have fired a shot across the bows of League Two by announcing the capture of striker John Akinde.

With a string of League sides chasing the big forward, and Northampton favourites with Gary Johnson being the man who took him to Bristol City, the League newcomers have handed him a two year deal to add to their 40 goal striker Matt Tubbs in a potent front line.

Prior to the news the bookies had already cut the odds on Crawley marching to the League Two title, with Skybet cutting their initial 5/1 offering to 7/2.

The Red Devils have also signed midfielder Jamie Day from Rushden. The 25 year old was an integral part of the Peterboro side that won promotion from League Two three years ago, and turned down several League sides last summer to sign for the Diamonds.
