Torquay And Stevenage Off To Old Trafford

Torquay and Stevenage will contest the League Two play-off final after both won their respective semi-finals without conceding a goal.

Stevenage beat Accrington 1-0 with Stanley having two men sent off. Joe Jacobson was dismissed for a reckless challenge, while Sean McConville saw red sixty seconds later for his part in the subsequent melee. Chris Beardsley then scored late on to seal a 3-0 aggregate win with the Boro side wasting so much time that seven minutes of injury time was played in the first half alone.

At the Greenhous Meadow, Shrewsbury provided little threat to Torquay's two goal first leg lead as the sides played out a goalless draw. Shrews fans booed loanee Jake Robinson at every touch, telling him when he was subbed that he wasn't wanted at the club anymore, while there was a brief cameo for former Bulls loanee Steven Leslie.

"Quite simply we weren't good enough tonight to break them down," said manager Graham Turner.

"The damage was done in the first leg.

"There are some very disappointed young players in the dressing room."

Meanwhile, ex-Bull Glen Southam is one of six players released by Barnet today. He is joined through the exit door by keeper Jake Cole and Charlie Stimson, son of former manager Mark.
