News Round-Up

Carling Cup opponents Brentford have signed Crewe striker Clayton Donaldson. The 27 year old scored 29 goals last term to top the League Two scoring charts. Torquay have signed Falkirk keeper Robert Olejnik on a two year deal. The former Aston Villa man, 24, has spent the last four years with the Scottish side and is an Austrian u21 international.

Rotherham have signed young defender Troy Brown following his departure from Ipswich. He made half a dozen appearances for the Tractorboys last term. Southend have signed winger Jemal Johnson on a one year deal. The American, 26, was most recently playing in Bulgarian football after a three year spell with MK Dons.

Gillingham have brought in four more players. Peterboro midfielder Chris Whelpdale is joined by experienced Millwall defender Andy Frampton, former Wycombe midfielder Lewis Montrose, and Dover keeper Ross Flitney. Former Bulls loanee Danny Blanchett is reported to be on trial at Derby after being released by Crewe.

Legal issues are reported to have delayed the signing of papers sealing the deal to sell Plymouth until Monday. The Pilgrims are reported to be ready to sign former Huddersfield full back Robbie Williams and teenage winger Durrell Berry, who has just been released by Aston Villa. They are also reported to be trialling former Oldham forward Andy Crompton and Norwich striker Luke Daley, who is available for loan.
