Speaking after the game, Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman felt that had Delroy Facey's long range shot gone in, the result might have been different. Facey tried his luck from 40 yards when the Shrewsbury keeper was out of position but his shot hit the cross-bar. At the time Shrewsbury were leading 2-1.
"Let's not beat about the bush," Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "If the second one had gone in it would have been a completely different game.
"Also they could argue had the sending-off (of Terry Gornell) not happened, then it would have been a different game.
"But they are all maybe and if and buts and we've ended up losing the game 3-1 which maybe was a little bit harsh on us."
At halftime Pitman took off Kenny Lunt and Simon Clist, bringing on Joe Colbeck and Tom Barkhuizen both providing more width.
"It worked throughout the second half and the momentum was with us. We hit the cross-bar and then we had another great chance. We failed to take our chances and about a minute later they go and score.
"The game was dead and buried from there."
