Another former Football League side has admitted severe financial difficulties this week.
With news of Lincoln's offer of redundancies, and Grimsby posting losses of close to £1million, Darlington are the latest to warn that their current situation is unsustainable. Chairman Raj Singh has told the press that he is propping up the club to the tune of £80,000 a month, and has told the players they will have to take a pay cut or leave the club.
Managerless Darlington are currently in the bottom half of the Conference table and were humiliated in the FA Cup last week, losing 3-0 to Hinckley.
Meanwhile, Wrexham's takeover has hit another stumbling block. The FA are still awaiting a guarantee from the club that it's existing liabilities will be met, with the Supporters Trust believing it had such a guarantee from the present owners.
A Trust statement says the current owners have 'a different view' on the liabilities and have sought clarification from them. Staff wages, some of which have not been paid, remain the responsibility of the current owners while the Trust have been running the club 'under licence' over the past few weeks.
