Darlo Administration Confirmed

Darlington have confirmed that they have entered Administration.

The Conference side's chairman Raj Singh confirmed the move this lunchtime after several weeks of uncertainty. In a parting statement Singh says supporter criticism of his actions made him want to leave as soon as possible, and that the offer from the recently formed consortium wasn't viable as he wasn't prepared to fund the club into the summer.

Singh says he has paid the wages of the off-field staff, leaving just the playing side awaiting wages as well as a compensation package for departed manager Mark Cooper. Total debts are believed to be just £150,000, but the club is running at a loss of £20,000 a week on the current wage bill. Several players are now expected to leave, with defender Greg Taylor completing a permanent move to Luton this morning.

On the pitch, the remainder of the season will be a struggle for the Quakers. They have only 17 registered players, seven of which are teenagers, and are currently under a transfer embargo. They will receive a 10 point penalty from the Conference leaving them just five points above the relegation zone.
