Former Bull Jailed For Helping Burglars

A former Hereford United player, Andy Llewellyn, has been jailed for telling burglars about empty homes. Over £100,000 of goods were then stolen from certain premises.

"The defendant was employed as a postman in Bristol," said Edward Burgess, prosecuting.

"He had access to information as to which householders had subscribed to the Keep Safe scheme.

"That information was provided on a frequent basis, enabling others to commit burglaries. They were sophisticated and premises were targeted."

Llewellyn, who was said to have debt problems, was jailed for three years.

Whilst with Hereford United Llewellyn only played in five games, one of which was the 7-1 defeat at Mansfield on Boxing Day 1994. He had been a regular at Bristol City for nearly ten seasons, before a move to Bristol Rovers and then Edgar Street in October 1994. He moved to Yeovil in January 1995.
