Crewe have reported a near £1million loss for last season, the club accounts have revealed.
The Railwaymen lost £962,736 last season, adding to a loss of over £800,000 the season before. Footballing income slumped after the club failed to sell any players during the season, and commercial income was cut by a third, but they cut the wage bill by £300,000 partly by axeing 40 matchday staff members from the previous season.
The accounts warn that the club's ability to continue as a going concern is reliant on loans from it's directors. During the year the Gresty Road ground and surrounding land and car park were 'demerged' from the football club, although it is not entirely clear quite how the club benefitted from the move.
