News Round-Up

Barnet have announced that new manager Martin Allen will be 'overseen' by Paul Fairclough. Chairman Tony Kleanthous, who blasted Allen over his departure 12 months ago and swore never to work with him again, said in a statement that he had "put personal issues aside in order to make the best decision I can." Cheltenham are trying to arrange a pre-season friendly match with Cardiff, but are awaiting advice from Police to consider whether it will be worthwhile financially.

Oxford have extended the loan of striker Cristian Montano until the end of the season. The teenager has scored ten times in 37 games across five different loan spells this term. Burton loan keeper Adam Legzdins has returned to Derby after his months loan expired. He made just one appearance in an injury hit spell. Cheltenham groundsman Terry Roberts has been named League Two Groundsman of the Year.

No Bulls in the Team of the Week. Bristol Rovers are the only side to get two players in the XI after their demolition of Burton. Shrewsbury have offered just two of eight of their second year scholars professional contracts. Port Vale's Supporters Club say they held 'positive' talks with preferred bidder Keith Ryder last night. The talks were 'amicable and constructive' and further meetings are planned.

Swindon have sold over 500 tickets for Saturday's match at Gillingham but still don't know if the game will allow spectators to watch. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Gills owe Kent Police for several months worth of match policing. Cambridge manager Jez George paid the admission fees for all 80 U's fans that made the trip to their match at Barrow last weekend. It cost him, personally, £1,120 with his players also paying out for pizza for the fans.

Gillingham have opted not to extend the loan of West Ham midfielder Oliver Lee. Boss Andy Hessenthaler called Lee, son of former England man Rob, a good footballer but not physically able to handle League Two football. Aldershot are to hope for a bit of divine inspiration after it was announced that the Dalai Lama is to give a speech at the club's ground. The event, at £30 a ticket, will happen in June.
