News Round-Up

Port Vale defender Clayton McDonald has been cleared of rape after a trial a Caernarfon Crown Court. Sheff Utd striker Ched Evans was found guilty of the same charge and sentenced to five years. Swindon have offered pro deals to two of seven second-year scholars at the club. Goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell and midfielder Miles Storey have already some involvement in the first team.

Gillingham have unveiled preliminary plans for a new stadium on the edge of the town. The plan needs a major food retailer involved to be successful, with Chairman Paul Scally saying talks have already started. A decision on Port Vale bidder Keith Ryder's offer for the club will be made by Stoke Council in private session. The council will lose £1.4million on the deal if they accept it during Wednesday's vote.
