We Have to Win Says O'Kelly

Richard O'Kelly has said that it is paramount that Hereford United take three points from this afternoon's game against Plymouth.

"If we want to achieve something at the end of the season, we have to get a positive result," O'Kelly told the Worcester News

"Everybody understands the importance of the game, what you can’t do is freeze. You have to embrace it and encourage each other. We have to be very competitive.

"It could and should be an emotional occasion because there’s a lot at stake but we want the players to perform with freedom and enjoyment.

"Of my previous games, it is only the first-half against Rotherham (lost 1-0) that I was disappointed with.

"You are looking for consistency of performance and then have to take what the gods give you. If we are doing the right things, my belief is our form will turn.

"In our last home game against Crewe our support was fantastic so more of that would be marvellous."

O'Kelly has also spoken to BBC Hereford and Worcester about the game.

"I'll take the ugliest 1-0 win I've ever seen in my life just to get a victory," said the Hereford United manager.

"The performance doesn't have to be pass the ball like Barcelona. It means being organised, being competitive, giving yourself an opportunity to win the game, not to get beat in certain situations, supporting each other all the time.

"Your performances comes from the basics - you get the basics right you can get a performance."
