Canham Signs New Deal

Bulls boss Martin Foyle has handed striker Sean Canham a new short term deal.

The former Exeter and Notts County man was frozen out under Jamie Pitman, but returns to Edgar Street to prove a point with Foyle telling the official site:
"I feel sorry for Sean, I think he had a rough deal, he was put out to the limelight to get slaughtered a little bit, sent off to train with the kids, but that was the previous management's decision."

"He could easily have walked away, but he's come here on a short term deal for less than half his wages, not many players do that so I think he deserves a pat on the back, not many players would do that, he actually wants to play here, he wants to be at this club.

"He got a bit of stick from supporters but I think that was because he was publicly slaughted by the management a little bit becuase of his high wages, but it was the club who gave him the deal in the first place. That wasn't Sean's fault."

Canham scored 17 times in 50 Conference games during a series of loan spells over the last three years, including nine goals for relegated Bath during the second half of last season. The 27 year old was one of a number of Bulls players at Edgar Street yesterday to undergo a pre-pre-season fitness test.
