Graham Johnson has written on the Bulls Banter forum about whether one supporters group should restart:
Ten years ago, when our club was at its then lowest point, BOLSA was formed.
BOLSA - Bulls Online Supporters Association - was set up to harness the power of the internet and raise money for the club.
We achieved our goal and helped with paying some of the outstanding and day to day bills. From that low point, our club's fortune's improved and BOLSA as an organisation stagnated. The financial problems were no longer an issue and so as an organisation we were no longer needed. Complacency, as they say, set in.
There are, however, some donations and income from merchandise still in the kitty and indeed, £200 has already been passed on to the club. So those of you who contributed 10 years ago will be glad to know you have helped again.
So let's roll forward to today.
Quite obviously we are in a mess again, and as supporters we have a part to play in our recovery - maybe more so this time than last. So the simple question is, should BOLSA be resurrected?
Currently, from the committee of 10 years ago, myself, MW and Jensenbull, together with Corfu who maintains the website, have been talking at length about how we feel about going forward.
We all agree that a new look BOLSA is needed. However, the present committee feel that new leadership is required, so if people agree in principle to an online supporters' group, then elections would need to be held. We will gladly help organise all of that and give feedback on any other matters.
What worked 10 years ago can be improved on, utilising Facebook, Twitter and the like. But the important first step is to decide what you want to do.
With regards to current members, we have a problem in that our membership database disappeared with Jensen's computer crash, so if those of you still around would like to e-mail membership@bolsa-hufc.co.uk I can update you with our thoughts about what to do with the remainder of the cash and merchandise.
Hopefully enough of you will be interested enough to make some comments, whether it be about the old BOLSA or suggestions for a new BOLSA.
