Hereford United chairman David Keyte feels that, at last, there is some daylight at the end of the tunnel as regards the club coping with the financial problems that have recently beset it.
The television money (£67,925) from the forthcoming FA Cup-tie has helped but also all the hard work and donations from supporters both near and far.
Keyte has put a proposal to HMRC about paying off the tax debts and is expecting a response from them tomorrow (Wednesday).
"Everybody knows that we have tax liabilities but we've been able to start a dialogue with the HMRC officers to try and find a way through that," said Keyte.
"We've made progress today and I'm waiting for a call back.
"We now have a bit of daylight at the end of the tunnel.
"We've put a proposal in for payment and we waiting for a response to that.
"The major change is the TV money.
"In all honesty we would have been some way short from around the board-room table and from the fundraising that is going on, which is greatfully appreciated.
"We are talking of a figure in excess of £100,000 that we owe to the taxman.
"Part of the negotiation is that we must keep on top of it going forward."
Director of football Gary Peters recently left the club.
"We did agree a settlement with Gary which both parties were happy with.
"He did have twenty months left on his contract.
"It was a fair settlement for both parties."
