Memorabilia Auction This Thursday

A signed Robin Van Persie Manchester United shirt, a signed Arsenal football from the Gunners squad that went 49 games without defeat and a limited edition signed and framed John Charles print from the former Hereford United's player managers time at Juventus are just some of the items up for auction this coming Thursday.

The auction will take place at Hereford United's sell-out Sportsmans Dinner, with former Manchester United and England player Lee Sharpe. The Bulls are seeking advance bids for the items, with bids being accepted by email to club@herefordunited.co.uk

Anyone wishing to place an advance bid should email the above address with their name, contact number and details of their highest bid.

United face several outstanding bills from HMRC including an outstanding VAT debt, and two PAYE bills. Below average gates, and the lack of home matches have seen The Bulls struggle to make ends meet, with HMRC likely to start winding up proceedings against the club.

A Cup win over League 1 Shrewsbury Town, and a second round game against Cheltenham coming up, live on ESPN television will help financially, but taking into account the financial return from the cup and television coverage the club still faces major financial concerns.

Bulls Chairman David Keyte and his board are in the process of a cost cutting exercise that has already seen the departure of Director of Football Gary Peters and the resignation of General Manager Terry Emmett, who volunteered to leave to help ease United's financial worries.

Supporters have rallied round, a 20mile sponsored walk set for this Saturday has already raised over £5,000, a sponsored leg wax amongst fans pulled in over £1,000 and donations from concerned supporters have raised over £23,000. Without which staff and players at Edgar Street would have gone unpaid last month.

Supporters have been donating money to help pay for the team to travel to recent matches, and a £1,000 donation from HUISA, United's independant supporters association will mean that the club can travel to their away game at Barrow on the 7th December.

The next fundraiser is this Thursday's Sportsman's Dinner, and the club are hoping that the auction alone will help raise several thousands of pounds.

Star items include Robin Van Persie's signed Manchester United shirt and a signed Arsenal football from their 49 game unbeaten run.

The auction also includes a match worn Cardiff City Paul Parry signed shirt from the Hereford v Cardiff FA Cup 4th round clash at Edgar Street in 2008.

A limited edition Hereford United vs Newcastle United anniversary signed shirt is also up for grabs, as well as 18 tickets for an executive box at Ascot's Betfair Chase race day on 16th February.
