Transfer Embargo Lifted

The Bulls have had their transfer embargo lifted.

Bulls chairman David Keyte tweeted the news this evening. It is now understood that the Bulls will strengthen their threadbare squad ahead of tomorrow's loan deadline.

"I would particularly like to thank all those supporters and friends of the club who have dipped into their pockets," said Keyte.

Director Nick Nenadich has also commented.

"Well done Chairman in getting Embargo lifted. Great news. However still lot to do in moving forward. Thanks to all those who have contributed."

Below is Keyte's statement in full, from the official site:

"This is obviously a positive fillip for the club to support the uplift in results and performances over the past month. I would like to thank the players and management for their continuing efforts and keeping their spirits high with such off-field matters surrounding them. My thanks also to all the office staff who continue to work with a smile on their faces.

"But I would particularly like to thank all those supporters and friends of the club who have dipped into their pockets. It is commonplace to expect Directors of a club to cover all financial issues and the lion’s share, I can assure you, has been, but the continuation of the ‘many hands make light work’ approach is essential if we are to avoid a repeat of this situation – not least it brings people together in support of the football club.

"It has always been that way at HUFC. Our published accounts for the years 2002-2010 state that donations received totalled £493,907 in that eight year period, so even without a relegation and reduced funding, substantial outside support has always featured as a part of our finance base.

“The discussions being held about appropriate structures for coordination of supporters’ help are welcomed. A united Supporters Group will produce better results than fragmented groups. It is clear that following relegation and the loss of the comfort blanket named Football League/Premiership funding, we are on our own. I have estimated that a figure of some £30k per month is required to settle the ship as we move forward.

"My suggested approach to this is that we follow three avenues:

1) cost savings within the club structure,
2) continue to seek an increase of 300-400 supporters for our home matches and
3) a balancing figure of possibly £7-8k per month through fundraising activities.

2) and 3) are interlinked and under the control of the HUFC supporter but with the magnificent efforts that have been made over the past few weeks, both locally and from around the country, I am confident that we can sort this.

"This week alone we have a sold-out Sportmans’ Dinner with Lee Sharpe which we estimate could raise £6k for the club funds. The group of supporters making the long walk from Malvern to Edgar Street this Saturday are heading for a similar return, which is a superb effort. The club are putting on a buffet and entertainment on arrival at the ground for the walkers and anyone else who wishes to turn out to cheer them home.

“I have no doubt that by working together to ensure the common goal, namely Hereford United’s survival and ultimate return to the Football League, that we will have some good times and
some not so good, along the way. But that’s Hereford United for you.”
