News Round-Up


Cambridge have signed Australian forward Matthew Fletcher on loan from Sheff Weds for an initial month. The u20 international spent part of last season with Oxford. Wrexham have confirmed the loan extension of Swansea defender Danny Alfei to the end of the season, while keeper Jonathan Mayebi has been called up by Cameroon for their friendly with Tanzania early next month.

Macclesfield have signed free agent striker Dean McDonald on a short term deal. The 26 year old former Gillingham man was playing for Carshalton last term. Lincoln have signed midfielder Paul Turnbull on a month long loan from Northampton. The 24 year old spent three months on loan at Stockport earlier in the season.

Tamworth have signed veteran striker Darren Byfield on non-contract terms after his release from Telford. The 36 year old started just two games for the Bucks due to injury problems. Former Luton boss Gary Brabin has lost his appeal against his conviction for using threatening words during a match with York in 2011.

Macclesfield chief executive Jon Harris has called on the Football League to regionalise League Two into two divisions, adding the top Conference sides into the mix, to cut down on travelling costs.
