News Round-Up

Barrow have announced that they have had their transfer embargo lifted after settling an outstanding tax bill. The club, who took only 13 players to their 6-1 loss at Luton last night, can now sign new players. Former Bulls striker Nick Chadwick has been handed a six match ban after being sent off in their loss to Port Vale at the weekend. He got a three match ban for the red card, and a further three games for an act of violent conduct missed by the referee in the opening minute of the match.

Bristol Rovers' chairman Nick Higgs says the club will continue with their plans for a new stadium even if they get relegated to the Conference. The 21,700 capacity stadium has moved a step closer after local planning officers recommended that the redevelopment of the Memorial Ground could go ahead, although it will now face a referral to the Secretary of State for final acceptance.

Notts County chairman Ray Trew says he will not put further funds into the club due to falling gates and a lack of support for his ownership from the fans. Trew claims he has put £12million into the club in the last couple of years, and allowed top earner Lee Hughes to leave last week. The Magpies have agreed a fee with Luton for midfielder Andre Boucard, claimed to be more than the £25,000 the Hatters paid for him.

Luton manager Paul Buckle has expressed an interest in free agent defender Guy Branston and Connor Essam. Branston, 33, was released by Aldershot last week and played for Buckle at Torquay. Essam had a loan spell at Kenilworth Road earlier in the season before being released by Gillingham.
