News Round-Up

Newport have appointed former Worcester City chairman Dave Boddy as their new Chief Executive. Boddy, who has recently been working with the Conference as assistant General Manager, will take up his new post in February. Wrexham have recalled defender Steve Tomassen from his loan spell at Welsh League side Airbus in the wake of Danny Devine's departure. The teenager played 19 times in the WPL this term after making three sub appearances for the Dragons.

Luton say they are still waiting on an answer from Christian Jolley over a move to Kenilworth Road, with Portsmouth reported to be amongst the clubs vying for his services. The Hatters haven't ruled out the signing of another defender and have released Frenchman Thierry Audel after a brief trial. Cheltenham say they will not be spending any money on transfer fees in the January window.

Lincoln are hoping to sign Notts County midfielder Hamza Bencherif on loan. The former Macclesfield and Imps man is available due to a cash shortage at the Magpies, that has also seen them unable to make an offer for Luton loanee Andre Boucard, with Imps boss David Holdsworth also interested in Chester midfielder Scott Brown if that deal fails to come off. The local Crawley press report that there is likely to be an announcement over the future of Richard Brodie in the next 48 hours.

Barnet manager Edgar Davids says he is on the lookout for new players to boost their survival prospects, despite the club already having more than 30 players on their books. Tamworth beat Nuneaton 2-1 in last night's Conference match at The Lamb. The Boro were down to 10 men after having defender Gavin Cowan sent off at half time for a scuffle in the tunnel.

Aldershot have released striker Guy Madjo with the former Forest Green man now training with Bristol Rovers. Kidderminster chairman Mark Serrell says the club are still in talks with former Bulls loanee Josh Gowling over an extension to his expiring contract, but that Football League sides and big hitters in the Conference are interested in the former Bournemouth and Gillingham man.

Former Bull Gary Bowyer is currently caretaker manager at Blackburn. The 41 year old has been reserve team boss at Ewood Park for the last three years, and has taken the first team to two wins in two games since Henning Berg was sacked after only 10 games. Bowyer played 14 times for the Bulls while dad Ian was manager, but refused to sign a contract under his father after seeing how Brian Clough had treated his son as a player.

Lincoln have allowed midfielder David Morgan to return to Nottm Forest at the end of his youth loan. The teenager made 10 appearances for the Imps. Stockport have released striker Cameron Darkwah, defender Euan Holder, and winger Deji Omoboye. Darkwah, 20, was at the end of his short term deal, making five appearances without scoring. Holder, 24, made only one appearance this season after 33 last term, and has cancelled his deal by mutual consent. Omoboye failed to make a first team appearance after signing a pro deal in the summer.

Southport will open negotiations with Mansfield over extending forward Andy Owens' deal to the end of the season. The former Sandgrounder returned to them on a three month loan that expires mid-January. If boss Liam Watson failed to get an extension he will seek an alternative forward. Alfreton have extended the loan of Leeds defender for a further month. The teenager, who is on a youth loan, has played in 12 Conference games since arriving three months ago.

Telford have released defender Tom Roberts by mutual consent. The 20 year old signed from TNS in the summer but made only one sub appearance. Hyde have allowed defender Andy Pearson to remain on loan at Guiseley for the remainder of the season. He was a virtual ever-present for Hyde in winning promotion from Conf North last season, but made just nine appearances for them this term before leaving in October.

Gillingham have released four former youth team players and transfer listed three more. Amongst those transfer listed and available for free is former Bulls target Ben Strevens and former Luton loanee defender Connor Essam. Gateshead have appointed former Sunderland striker David Rush as the club's new Assistant Manager, and have also named Paul Bryson as first team coach.
