Foyle Defends Sharp Fee

Speaking to Bulls Player, Martin Foyle says he financed the signing of Chris Sharp by cutting his own spending.

Foyle denies suggestions that the £3,000 fee came from supporters' donations, telling Jamie Griffiths that he plans to not have team coaches to Forest Green and Telford when we play them this season - and that the fee is due in instalments over the duration of Sharp's contract so very little has been paid so far.

"He's contracted for next season because he's well within our new budget... the £3,000 is in instalments over the term of his contract... I'd already planned to pay for it my own way. Didn't take a team coach to Kidderminster, wasn't going to take one to Forest Green and, end of season, wasn't going to take a team coach to Telford. So that would have paid for it.

"I've cut out so many things since I've been here, and that was another way I could get a player through the door.

"We're all working together. The supporters have been fantastic donating money and everything. As long as they don't think their money has come into the club to buy players - it's far from it. I've done it through the other parts of business and that's the way I've got to work."
