The Garrick House Multi-Storey 400-space car park in Widemarsh Street used by Bulls fans attending matches at Edgar Street is to close for five months from March 11th for "renovations".
Work on the lifts was completed last year and this new work is said to include the stairwells, strengthening on all levels and water damage prevention.
In place of the missing 400 spaces, The Council is to provide a temporary 60-space facility nearby. A spokesman has said that research has suggested that the temporary park along with the other existing facilities will "be able to accommodate this".
It is not clear why this work wasn't undertaken during the time when the entire old market site was unused and available for temporary parking with space for probably a thousand cars at, say, £2 a day?
Then again, that would have involved some forethought.
