News Round-Up


Former Bulls loanee Paul Downing has signed a new 18 month deal at Walsall, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2014. The Saddlers have also seen assistant boss David Kelly quit the club, just two weeks after he replaced Richard O'Kelly. Hyde have signed defender Tom Anderson on a months loan from Burnley. The teenager had an 18 game spell with Barrow in the first half of the season.

Telford have signed Macclesfield midfielder Charlie Henry and Leicester defender Karlton Watson on month long loans. Henry, formerly of Newport and Luton, has made 18 appearances for the Silkmen this term, while Watson, 20, made five appearances for Lincoln at the end of last season inbetween being released by Nottm Forest and being picked up by Leicester. 

Barrow have signed Accrington defender Tom Eckersley on loan and put released Stockport defender Sam Hibbert on non-contract terms. Former Bolton trainee Eckersley had a brief loan at Stockport earlier in the season, while Hibbert was released by the Hatters in the wake of Jim Gannon's sacking without making an appearance.

Cambridge have released midfielder Ricky Wellard, with the 24 year old former Wimbledon man signing a deal with Conf South side Salisbury. Director of Football Jez George says financial reasons were behind the move to release Wellard just six months into a two year deal.
