Preview: Bulls vs Southport

The Bulls face Southport in a Conference match at Edgar Street tomorrow.

The two sides met at Haig Avenue in October, drawing 2-2. Sam Clucas and a Ryan Bowman penalty put the Bulls two goals up before the Sandgrounders pulled level before half time with a disputed goal and a soft penalty. Southport have won only two of the sides 20 meetings, with 12 draws and six Bulls wins.

The Bulls will hope to return to action with a fairly full squad. With 21 year olds Harry Pell and Will Evans gone, Martin Foyle has added 20 year olds Kingsley James and Rod McDonald to his squad. Midfielder James is expected to slot into the midfield, while defender McDonald - Nantwich's player of the season 'by a mile' according to their fans - can slot into the centre or left back roles but may have to wait for his opportunity.

Sandgrounders boss Liam Watson had to shelve a third signing yesterday when an injury caused his target to be retained by his club. New arrivals Neil Byrne and Scott Kay will both travel to Edgar Street and are expected to start. Striker Chris Almond is expected to be fit again after a stop-start season so far, with him the top scorer amongst their strikers with six goals. Top scorer, with seven overall, Chris Lever will miss the game through injury, one of three defenders to be absent.
