Macclesfield boss Steve King has been sacked after their play-off hopes effectively ended with a 3-1 home loss to Grimsby tonight.
The sharp suited miniature manager is reported to have spent heavily over the season on players, with the club at least twice failing to pay players on time due to the outlay. They sit in eighth place in the table, 12 points short of the Mariners in fifth place.
They are the eighth side to dispense with a manager this term.
In the other games tonight Southport won 3-1 at Braintree to move four points clear of danger, while Ebbsfleet had a marathon 10 hour trip to Barrow for their game.
Traffic delays saw the match kick off at 9.05pm with Ebbsfleet having ex-Bull Nathan Elder sent off shortly before the end. The 1-1 draw leaves the Fleet with 10 points to make up from six remaining games, while Barrow are a point behind target sides Nuneaton and Gateshead.
