Shots Chief Exec Quits As War Escalates

Deep divisions are appearing across the Aldershot boardroom as the Chief Executive quits the club.

Andrew Mills, who only took the job in January, walked out leaving a scathing statement blaming majority owner Kris Machala for his departure, claiming the former chairman is only looking to protect his investment rather than the club as a whole. In his statement he accused Machala of asking him 'to make assurances and promises that I simply have no authority to either confirm, nor have any evidence to believe.'

Mills' departure follows the departures of the hospitality and bar managers last week, while the club's Head of Media - also the Supporters Trust chief - opted to publish a lengthy statement accusing Machala of constantly changing his mind, often just minutes after telling him to publicise a decision.

Meanwhile, chairman Shahid Azeem says he does not intend to provide Machala with further proof of funds after already ploughing £300,000 into the club since his February arrival - leading to Azeem and Machala reaching an impasse over new funding for the club.

The club is reported to have budgeted to lose £700,000 this season with estimated gates of 2,700 as they targeted the play-offs. In reality, they fell over 400 short of the target figure and overspent on a summer refurbishment of the ground.
