Who's Between The Sticks At Edgar Street

With Dan Hanford released, and James Bittner confirming his departure earlier today, the Bulls are expected to seek a senior keeper to join new arrival Daniel Lloyd-Weston in competing for the first team spot.

The Non-League Paper were first off the mark to link Salisbury keeper Will Puddy to the Bulls. The 25 year old remains out of contract with the Whites, but the paper also linked him to Bristol Rovers - where former Salisbury boss Darrell Clarke became assistant boss last week.

A quick look on the PFA's Transfer List page shows a string of keepers currently seeking new clubs. Some of those have Conference experience, like Scott Bevan. The 33 year old has experience of this level with Torquay, Kidderminster, and Tamworth and - barring last season's bench warming - had spent the previous two years as a first team regular in League Two.

Former Bulls reserve keeper Glyn Thompson spent five years as the regular no.1 at Newport, including two in the Conference, but has been released this summer after a season collecting splinters on the Rodney Parade bench.

The forums have been talking about released Exeter keeper Rhys Evans, after the one-time Chelsea trainee announced on Twitter that he had agreed a contract starting August 1st but was unable to announce his destination. Some were quick to link him to the Bulls when Bittner responded with a good luck message.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the Bulls will operate with a part-time goalkeeping coach next season to replace Dan Connor.
