Torquay will field at least a pair of trialists in tomorrow's match at Edgar Street.
Ex-Birmingham pair Krystian Pearce and Jack Deaman will turn out in the Gulls' defence. Pearce, 23, spent the last two seasons with Notts County, and played against the Bulls for Scunthorpe as a teenager, while Deaman, 20, had a non-playing loan spell at Cheltenham last term.
A move for fellow defender Shaun Cooper has collapsed over finances, with the Gulls unable to afford the experienced ex-Bournemouth man, while boss Alan Knill will be unable to bring in his planned striker signings until after the weekend.
Knill says he will not risk goalkeeper Michael Poke tomorrow, and winger Courtney Cameron will also miss the game with a calf problem.
The Bulls' main injury doubt is Sam Gwynne, who took a heavy knock during the win over Wellington on Tuesday. Luke Graham is expected to make his first appearance in pre-season after five games for the GB Universities side, while trialist striker Michael Rankine is likely to feature again in a bid to win a deal.
