Ex-Bull Lunt Sent Off For Quick Free Kick

Bala Town director of football, Colin Caton, was incensed by the decision to show Kenny Lunt a red card during their game against Airbus UK on Monday.

Lunt was shown a second yellow card by referee, Bryn Markham-Jones, for trying to take a free kick too quickly.

“I was absolutely flabbergasted Caton told Sgorio after the match.

“I didn’t see any signal, Kenny didn’t speak to (the ref). There was no direction whether it was on the whistle or not.

“I’ve tried apeaking to Bryn (Markham-Jones) but he’s not approachable and won’t speak to me. They ask for respect but surely they’ve got to get a bit back by letting me speak to him.”

Bala, who leading 1-0 Lunt’s sending off, eventually lost the match 2-1 and Airbus UK manager, Andy Preece, was sympathetic to Caton’s complaint.

“He’s got every reason not to be happy. I’m sure you have to use a bit of common sense,” he said.

“He wasn’t trying to gain an advantage or con the referee. It’s harsh.

“Referees have got to be allowed to use common sense. We want to play 11 v 11 unless it’s something reckless.

“To be sent off for that? It’s harsh.”
