News Round-Up

Mathieu Manset netted a late equaliser to save a point for Coventry in their 4-4 draw with Preston on Sunday. The game was played in front of just over 2,000 fans, 600 of them from Preston, with the Sky Blues having to deny claims that they gave away tickets to locals to boost the gate. Meanwhile, at the Ricoh Arena, the Coventry Ladies side had a gate close to 7,000 for their 2-0 win over Lewes.

Former Bull Jose Veiga has left Tamworth and joined Worcester. The veteran trialled for the homeless club earlier in the summer. Ahead of the weekend Chester signed loan pair Jordan Laidler and Aidan Chippendale on month long loans. Midfielder Laidler, from Sunderland, is yet to make his pro debut, while winger Chippendale made a handful of appearances for Accrington last term before signing for Bury in the summer.

Cambridge have signed midfielder Michael Spillane for the season. The 24 year old spent the second half of last season with Southend after spending the previous 12 months with Dagenham. Lincoln chairman Bob Dorrian has told the local radio he expects the club to have a new ground within four years. He told the BBC that operating Sincil Bank as a three sided ground, having shut one side on financial grounds, saves the club £10,000 a season.

Luton have confirmed the signing of striker Paul Benson on loan for the season. The 33 year old previously worked with boss John Still at Dagenham, and scored 28 times in their 2007 Conference title winning season.
