Poppies Wound Up Over Nene Debt

Former non-league giants Kettering Town have been officially shut down after a High Court hearing today.

The club, who were demoted from the Conference on financial grounds last summer, have been forced out of business by a £58,000 debt owed to Rushden & Diamonds (2008) Ltd - the holding company of the Nene Park stadium that the Poppies briefly used - after the Registrar refused a further adjournment of the hearing.

The Southern League side, now playing three tiers below the Conference, had lost three of their four games so far this term. They started this season at the tiny Latimer Park ground in the town, shared with United Counties League side Burton Park Wanderers, after a short time at Corby's Steel Park following their disastrous Nene Park stay.

The people who run the club are considering their next move.
