Bulls Bounce Back Twice To Grab All Three Points

SeeBlocker watched the game for Bulls News

Hereford manager Martin Foyle opted to replace the injured Jon Brown with recent arrival, 20 year old winger, Micah Evans. Otherwise the team was the same as started at Lincoln last Saturday.

New Loan Signing Micah Evans
Both sides started the encounter with an eye for goal with a few half chances. Frankie Artus saw a shot sail well over visiting keeper, Matt Glennon’s net as well as a Rod MacDonald effort parried to deny Hereford the opener.

With the Bulls defending the Meadow End, Joe Ironside was allegedly pulled to the ground by Dom Collins resulting in a penalty which was dispatched into the bottom corner of the net by Wilson.

Artus's Free Kick Heads Towards O'Keefe And Several Defenders
The Bulls were eager to pull things level and they did just that 8 minutes from half time. Sam Smith was awarded a free kick after being brought down, and Artus delivered a great ball to the box where O’Keefe was in amongst the Halifax defenders and the ball was headed in although O’Keefe was credited with the goal it looked suspiciously like an own goal.

It's In The Net And O'Keefe Helped It
Hereford kept pressurising the Shaymen’s back four when Leadbitter took a throw short which was then crossed into the box but was headed agonisingly wide by Artus.

HT: Hereford 1 – Halifax 1

Hereford looked the most likely to score immediately after the break, when a snapshot from Smith on the left was saved by the well positioned Glennon. Smith was also involved in the run up to an Artus shot which was also saved by the Shaymen’s keeper.

Halifax took the lead for the second time in the game, just after Dan Walker replaced debutante Evans on the wing. Adam Smith easily rounded Chris Bush and crossed for Ironside to head the ball into the back of Lloyd-Weston’s net from 5 yards.

Joel Edwards Came On For Chris Bush
Foyle then chose to replace the ineffective Bush with local lad Joel Edwards. Minutes later United had a good penalty shout when it appeared Lathrope’s shot was handballed in the box, but referee Lymer saw no offence. The follow up shot resulted in nothing.

It then came as a shock to most fans when Artus was replaced by Eric Odhiambo, but 5 minutes later Hereford got the equaliser. Walker did well to work the ball into the box and then beat the keeper who had come off his line. Halifax cleared the ball for a corner which was taken by Walker and Dom Collins was on hand with a glancing header to bring the teams level.

It's Heading For The Net
Substitute Odhiambo then finished precisely from just inside the box to give Hereford the lead just four minutes after equalising.

Players Running Towards Meadow End After Odhiambo Puts Bulls Ahead
Both teams piled on more pressure in the closing stages of the game, but Foyle’s men seemed content with seeing the game out, collecting all three points and extending their unbeaten run to 4 matches.

FT: Hereford 3 – Halifax 2
Att: 1,058 with 50 from t'up North
Sponsors’ man of the match: Dom Collins.

With Martin Foyle’s options limited through injuries, this was a very welcome win and will give the players confidence going into the FA Trophy match against Woking on Saturday. With Hereford hitting three goals at Edgar Street for the first time, in what seems like an eternity, maybe this is a sign of things to come.

Hereford: Lloyd-Weston, Leadbitter, McDonald, Collins, Bush (Edwards 64’), Evans (Walker 61’), O’Keefe, Lathrope, Artus (Odhiambo 68’), Smith, Rankine
.
Halifax: Glennon, McManus, Pearson, Lowe (Patterson 44’), Smith (Gardner 76’), Wilson, Roberts (Worthington 18’), Holsgrove, Maynard, Ironside, Love.

See on Saturday for Woking.
