The Football League are to consult clubs on a return to terracing. Currently Championship clubs cannot have terracing with promoted clubs having to convert their stadiums, which cannot be put back to terracing afterwards. Continental 'rail seats' have been suggested as an alternative, but plans would have to be ratified by Government after clubs meet to discuss the matter in February.
Tranmere fans say they are likely to only raise half the £500,000 required to make a bid for the club. Bidders have until the end of the year to lodge offers for the club, which was put up for sale by owner Peter Johnson. The 73 year old has owned the club for over 25 years and will write off the bulk of £5milllion in loans ahead of a sale, with their Prenton Park home needing substantial investment for repairs.
Ebbsfleet Vice Chairman Peter Varney has denied press claims from Dover boss Chris Kinnear that they are paying £1,000 a week to some players. The two clubs meet today in Conf South after a fiery summer that saw several players swap between the clubs, building animosity between the long-standing rivals. Salisbury have loaned striker Ben Wright to Basingstoke for an initial month. The former Forest Green man has scored six times this season but has fallen out of favour.
