News Round-Up

Footballer Michael Boateng has been sentenced to 16 months in prison after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit bribery in the match fixing trial. The 22 year old was sentenced along with two businessmen who got five year terms. Hakeem Adelakun, the second footballer tried, was cleared while the third, Moses Swaibu, will face a retrial later in the year.

Former Bull Craig Stanley has left Aldershot after being offered a vastly reduced deal by the Shots. The 31 year old missed much of his first season at the Rec, but was captain during his second season. The Shots have handed fellow ex-Bull Tristan Plummer a new deal despite the former Bristol City trainee missing much of his time at the club through injury.

Eastbourne have signed former Bulls striker Gavin McCallum following his release from Sutton. The Canadian is currently in his homeland and will return for pre-season. Former Bulls midfielder Steve Mardenborough's son is a budding racing driver. Mardenborough played for the Bulls in the 88/89 season, with 22 year old son Jann having just competed in Le Mans in a three man team with Martin Brundle's son Alex. He is also competing in the 2014 GP3 series, where he has finished 14th of the 27 drivers in the opening two rounds.

Nathan Elder has agreed a deal with Dover for the coming season. The much travelled striker joined the Conference newcomers from Ebbsfleet last summer, and downed his former club in the play off final.
