Weir Starts For Tigers

Tyler Weir started for Gloucester City in their Gloucestershire Senior Trophy game with Cheltenham tonight.

With tenants Gloucester the home side at Whaddon Road, the visiting Robins ran out 5-2 winners. Weir played the full game in a game seen as a reserve match by both sides. The Tigers have a first team game on Wednesday when they travel to Corby Town.

On Tuesday Sam Gwynne should play some part for AFC Telford when they face Gainsborough, while Sean Canham will play for Kidderminster as they entertain Crawley.

News Round Up

Northampton have been on a buying - or at least loaning - spree with the arrivals of three new faces. Wolves full back Jamie Reckord, Peterboro keeper Steve Collis, and Posh full back Seth Ofori-Twumasi have all signed until the end of the season. Rotherham are trialling striker Jordan Robertson. The 23 year old has recently been released from prison following a conviction for causing death by dangerous driving.

No Bulls in the Team of the Week. Bury two goal midfielder Steven Schumacher is nominated for his stint against the Bulls, while former Bulls loanee Lee Collins is also in the XI. Stephen Gleeson is also in the League One side. Plymouth fans have started a hardship fund to help the club's staff. They have raised over £3,000 so far. The Administrator has closed the club's city centre shop and made 15 people redundant so far.

Ex-Bull Neil Mackenzie is to run a marathon in aid of Cardiac Risk in the Young. Former teammate Richard Butcher died of a heart defect, and Mackenzie will run in May. Donations can be given here. Saracens have submitted plans to Barnet council to redevelop the Copthall Stadium eyed up by the Bees. They plan to expand the stadium to 10,000 capacity with removeable stands.

Preview: Stevenage vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Stevenage on Tuesday night for a League Two match.

The two sides met across nine Conference seasons, but this is the first season for the Boro in the Football League. The earlier meeting at Edgar Street last September saw another nail driven into Simon Davey's managerial career with a tame 4-1 defeat in front of a dismal crowd. Of their trips to the renamed Lamex Stadium, the Bulls are unbeaten in five. The last trip was five years ago, when the two sides shared a goalless draw in September 2005. Jamie Pitman played the second half for the Bulls, with Rob Purdie playing the full game.

Stevenage's play-off hopes have been dwindling in recent weeks and they now sit in 12th, seven points off the top seven and only eight clear of the Bulls having played a game more. A run of three straight home draws was ended with a 4-0 demolition of fast sinking Cheltenham, but they have failed to find consistent form and lost 2-0 at Torquay on Saturday. The only thing lacking in their side is a consistent goalscorer, although rookie Byron Harrison has taken to League football comfortable with seven goals in 12 games since making the switch from Ryman side Carshalton in January.

The Bulls travel south without leggy midfielder Harry Pell after he was recalled by Bristol Rovers due to their injury crisis, leaving either James McQuilkin or Nicky Featherstone to take his place. Striker Adrian Patulea comes in to be the first Romanian to play for the club. The Bulls have had Romanian trialists before, but the two lads that blagged a trial from Graham Turner after claiming to have been in the same youth team as Dan Petrescu were quickly shown the door.

Stevenage vs Hereford United, Lamex Stadium, Tuesday 8th March, 7.45pm.

Adrian Patulea - A Profile

Adrian Patulea, who signed for Hereford United earlier today, has been on trial with the club for at least three weeks.

On February 15th he scored two goals for the Bulls in their behind closed doors friendly against Cardiff City. The 27 year old was recently released by Leyton Orient.

Here's an edited profile from Wikipedia which first appeared on BN on Feb 18th:

Pătulea played for Rapid Bucharest, Astra Ploieşti and Petrolul Ploieşti in his native Romania. He spent some time in Dubai with Al Hamriya where he linked up with his former Astra coach Petre Gigiu, before moving to the UK.

In February 2008 he trained with Burgess Hill Town, but problems with his international clearance curtailed any move. He began the 2008-09 pre-season with Boston United, playing in their 2-0 friendly victory at Shirebrook Town on 12 July 2008.

He then arrived at Lincoln City and requested a trial. City manager Peter Jackson's resistance was broken by the player's bizarre training ground routine and Patulea then spent six weeks training with the first team squad. During this time, he scored a second-half hat-trick against local rivals Lincoln United and appeared to have won the hearts of Lincoln supporters. It then became apparent that Patulea's former club, Petrolul Ploieşti, held his registration and his switch to Sincil Bank looked to be over when his parent club demanded a large fee from City.

City eventually managed to negotiate a deal for Patulea, and he signed for the club on 29 August 2008. His international clearance documents did not come through in time for him to play in the derby with Grimsby Town, but he scored his first League goal on his debut for Lincoln City, coming off the bench to score a goal in the Imps' 2–0 win over Barnet. Pătulea then went on to make his second appearance from the bench in the Lincoln's away defeat against Bury, before he started his first game of the season away at Brentford, taking just 30 minutes to notch his second goal in a City shirt. Pătulea then scored again in the 57th minute in the 2–0 win over Chester. He yet again found the net in the 30th minute against Chesterfield in Lincoln's 3–1 win over Chesterfield. He then came off the bench to score two goals in Lincoln's 5–1 win at Sincil Bank against Accrington Stanley. He then scored the winner in Lincoln's 1–0 win over Notts County in the 32nd minute.

On 23 June 2009, he signed for Leyton Orient on a two year deal. He scored his first goal for Orient in a League Cup tie at Colchester United on 11 August 2009. In September 2010, under new Orient manager Russell Slade, Patulea went on loan to Conference National club Hayes & Yeading United. He made his debut for United in the 3–1 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers, scoring their goal but later receiving a red card for violent conduct. When he returned to Orient, he was unable to cement a place in the first team and on 22 January, his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Can Booth turn Wrexham?

64 year old Stephanie Booth could be in line to help take over Wrexham football club. Last Saturday she was unveiled as the preferred bidder for the North Wales club and afterwards she promised she would try and turn Wrexham into a community based club.

She'll have to work fast.

"We need to inject half a million pounds into the club very quickly, otherwise HMRC will issue a winding up order," Booth told the Daily Post.

"We haven’t paid the VAT and we haven’t paid the National Insurance, so we’ve got to make sure that we get money in straight away."

Initially there were some doubts about Booth as she has a colourful past according to an article from icWales in 2003.

One of Britain's best known transsexuals is buying up a string of prominent hotels and pubs in and around an historic North Wales town. Stephanie Booth, who was once jailed for selling porn and runs a sex-change and cross-dressing website, has bought five hotels and pubs in Ruthin in the last 15 months...

So far, Stephanie, who used to be called Keith Hull, and husband David Booth have bought the 600-year-old Bodidris Hall, Llandegla, the Plough Hotel, also in Llandegla, the Anchor Hotel, Ruthin, the Castle Hotel and adjoining Myddleton Arms in St Peter's Square, Ruthin, and the Clwyd Gate Restaurant, between Mold and Ruthin...

On her website, titled Transformation and which advises and sells items to help people wanting a sex-change or who are transvestites, Bodidris Hall is advertised as being available for transvestite (or TV) weekends... Her life-story is also set to be made into a major film....

'After my autobiography came out about 15 years ago I thought I would keep a lower profile and stopped doing interviews. Now United Artists are about to make a film based on my life, and I shall be a consultant on it'.

However there's little doubt that her move into Hotels has been successful and now she wants to use her expertise to help the football club.

The Daily Post explained.

Successful businesswoman Stephanie Booth has turned around a succession of failing businesses and owns a string of hotels. Key to her thinking is assuming that football alone is not enough to sustain the venue which therefore needs events, fan participation, tax breaks and grants essential to make ensure success.

So what about her plans for the club and the ground?

First Ms Booth wants to form a Wrexham FC membership Club which will cost £52 a year, effectively £1 a week, to belong to – in return supporters get discounted tickets which will save money over the season.

Secondly Ms Booth wants a broad base of shareholders so no one person or group of friends can threaten the club again. Shares will cost £100 and no one person will be allowed to own more than 10%.

The third step is to buy the stadium and grounds and place them in to a community charitable trust which will give the ability to take advantage of the governments gift aid scheme allowing companies to get tax breaks from donations, gain eligibility for grants and “ensure it is owned by the community for the community.”

Lastly an Annual General Meeting would be held at the stadium so everyone has the chance to put their questions and receive a copy of the trading accounts.

It won't be easy as current owners Geoff Moss and Ian Roberts have threatened to put the club into administration but on Saturday put that idea on hold.

We, as the current owners, see that the best solution is to transfer them both (club and ground) into a broad-based community ownership. Because of her track record on working on similar projects, we pick Stephanie Booth to do this. If she accepts this, we promise to work quickly with her and promise not to allow the club to go into administration during the sale process.

Former player Mickey Thomas has told the BBC that Booth could be the right choice to lead Wrexham.

"All we want now is a solid foundation for Wrexham Football Club to move forward."

Penney leaves Bristol Rovers

Hot on the heels of Harry Pell’s return to The Memorial Stadium comes the news that manager Dave Penney has been relieved of his duties.

Bristol Rovers have today relieved Dave Penney of his managerial duties with immediate effect. The decision was taken in light of the continued poor performances on the pitch.

Captain Stuart Campbell will take control of team affairs and selection until the end of the season.

A statement from the Board of Directors said: “We are all very disappointed and sad that the appointment of Dave Penney has not brought us the results and change of direction that we have been looking for."

“With 12 games left there is still a chance to get ourselves out of this situation and try and secure our League One status."“We wish Stuart Campbell every success for the remainder of the season, and would call on all fans to back him, and the team, as he tries to rescue our season.”

Penney joined Bristol Rovers on January 10th and since then the club have won just two games. Martin Foyle will also be leaving the club.

Penney lost nine of his thirteen games in charge, culminating in a 2-0 home loss to fellow strugglers Dagenham on Saturday, earning just eight points in total.

Pell Departure Confirmed

The Bulls have confirmed that Harry Pell has been recalled by Bristol Rovers.

An injury crisis at the Memorial Ground means the 20 year old is needed by boss Dave Penney after six weeks, and seven games, at Edgar Street. Pell's only appearance for the Pirates' first team was in November as a late sub.

On Twitter, Pell thanked the Bulls for their support: 'Just want to say a massive thankyou to all Hereford staff players and FANS!!!!!. Had a great time here and wish you every success xxx'

Romanian Signs For Bulls

Romanian striker Adrian Patulea has signed for the Bulls until the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

The 26 year old left Leyton Orient in January after a disappointing spell, but made his name scoring 11 times in 31 games for Lincoln in the 2008/9 season.

He started as a trainee with Rapid Bucharest, and has also played in Dubai before coming to the UK.

Harry Pell recalled by Bristol?

The unconfirmed word on the street is that Bristol Rovers loanee, Harry Pell, has been recalled by the struggling League 1 club.

Pell had recently had is loan spell at Edgar Street extended for a second period.

News Round Up

Southend have moved to placate fans after they were issued with yet another winding up order by the taxman. The club say they were 'a few days late' in paying up their dues last month, but that the March 16th court date will be withdrawn. Former Port Vale board member Mike Thompstone, who quit the club in December, has called for the board to accept Mo Chaudry's bid for the club saying the current regime lack cash and are not professional enough.

Rotherham are to appeal the red card given to defender Tom Newey at the weekend. Newey was reported to have punched a Barnet player, but manager Ronnie Moore says the video shows he is innocent. Bradford have pleaded with fans not to throw objects onto the pitch after the club recorded their third incident this season of items being thrown. They say each report means they have to spend more on Police and stewards.

Morecambe are to sign Lincoln keeper Joe Anyon on a months loan. Anyon was no.1 at Sincil Bank until the loan arrival of Sunderland stopper Trevor Carson. Burton boss Paul Peschisolido says his side are suffering from fatigue but he has no resources to bring fresh faces in after they conceded four goals for the third time in four games at the weekend.

Plymouth Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has laid out a timetable to complete a sale of the club. He wants a preferred bidder by March 17th who would then cover the club's running costs while they completed negotiations. Guilfoyle says any bidder will need to fund at least £2million in wages to the end of the season and then reach a CVA with creditors, but he adds that no single creditor is owed more than 25% of the £13million debt so that a CVA cannot be blocked by one creditor.

Macclesfield have fined every player involved and their management team over the mass brawl that saw them collect a FA charge at the end of their match with Wycombe. Bury have announced price rises in their match tickets for next season, upping prices by £1 on their category B matches but dropping them by £1 on category A games. Virtually all their matches are cat B, but they will use cat A games if they win promotion.

Monday September 14th 1964

The Bulls travelled to play Stevenage Town in the First Division of the Southern League. Stevenage were managed at that time by George Curtis the former Arsenal and Southampton player (not the Coventry one).

The Official Programme cost 4d (old money) and announced a Bulls side of Jock Wallace, Thomas (?), Peter Timms, Alan Attwood, Ray Daniel, Arthur Tyrer, Ronnie Burbeck, Alan Rogerson, Brian Punter, Albert Derrick and Freddie Jones. For their part, the hosts lined up with Peacock, Standing, Oakley, Freely, Mills, Curry, Richards, Walker, Ince, Dixon and Franks.

I don't have a record of the score but it's certain that The Bulls were victorious as having drawn the opening match of the season at Deal Town they then proceeded to win the next nine games on the bounce finishing the season as Champions and gaining promotion back to the Southern League Premier Division. Albert Derrick was top scorer on 37 goals with Brian Punter weighing in with 26.

The programme proudly advertises the home Club's colours as Red and White Stripes with Red Knickers and White Stockings. I'd pay good money to wind the clock back and see Anthony Elding dressed like that!

Stevenage without Defender Roberts on Tuesday

Stevenage Borough will be without defender Mark Roberts on Tuesday when they play Hereford United.

Roberts was given a straight red card on Saturday at Torquay when he committed a 'professional foul' on Chris Zebroski. Stevenage lost the game 2-0.

Manager Graham Westley thinks his side will respond on Tuesday.

"When we play well we look to have a response and play well again and if we don't play well we look to have a response and play well."

Canham Loan Extended To Season End

Kidderminster's fans have been told Sean Canham's loan at Aggborough has been extended to the end of the season.

The 26 year old joined Kiddy on February 11th, starting all five of their games since and scoring once. He has a two year deal at Edgar Street, but now appears to be surplus to Jamie Pitman's requirements.

At a fans forum on Friday night, Kidderminster's fans were told about their recent financial troubles. Board member Mark Serrell told the assembled fans that £110,000 had been donated by fans to the club to keep them out of Administration. They now anticipated a shortfall of around £84,000 by the end of the season rather than the sizable six-figure sum previously estimated after a series of cost-cutting measures.

They were also told that bidder Chris Swan claimed to have found another £165,000 of debt in the club that saw him cancel his offer, but the club cannot find the debt itself. Swan is alleged to have told the board that the club should go bust and reform in the lower echelons of non-league.

Scott to Referee at Stevenage

Graham Scott is set to referee Tuesday's League Two match at Broadway where Stevenage will play Hereford United.

The Bulls have already met Scott this season. He was the referee at Underhill last October. The Bulls lost that game 2-0 and former manager Simon Davey received his cards two days later.

Tony James, who had just joined the Bulls on loan from Burton, was the only Bulls player to receive a yellow card that afternoon.

To date this season Scott has been in charge of 26 games and has given out 79 yellow and 9 red cards, including four in an FA Cup game between Leyton Orient and Droylsden.

Meanwhile initial offers by bookmakers put a Hereford win on Tuesday at around 4/1.

Stevenage Travel – Tuesday

Stevenage FC v Hereford United
Football League 2
Tuesday 8th March KO 7.45pm
The Lamex Stadium
Broadhall Way
Stevenage
Herts
SG2 8RH
Phone 01438 223223

It’s been a while since we last visited the artistes formally known as Stevenage Borough. Yes, they’ve changed their name again. No longer a borough, now just plain old Satenage FC. Mind you, name changing has been something of a feature at Broadhall Way with the inhabitants having previously plied their trade as both "Town" and "Athletic" before the recent dropping of the "Borough" tag.

It really doesn't feel like five and a half years since we last sat in the Buildbase Stand to witness the no-score draw in our final Conference season. I doubt much will have changed in the visitors end. The rebranded Lamex Stadium holds just over 7000 with the all-seated Buildbase Stand providing accommodation for up to 1400 visitors (probably around five seats each). Admission is believed to be £18 for adults, £15 for concessions (OAP's, UB40's and students NUS Card) and £10 for U18's.

HUISA – departs from Radford's at 2.30pm with a fare of £20 (Members £18). Seats can be booked in Radford's before Saturday’s game against Bury or through the Club office (08442 761939).

By Car – The slightly shorter route is to go via Oxford to the M25 and then up the A1(M) from junction 23 (South Mimms services) to Stevenage leaving the A1(M) at junction 7. Distance for this route is about 150 miles but you will have the pleasure of the M25 at peak traffic time. My recommendation is to go via Worcester, M5 (North), M42, M6 (South) and M1 to leave at Junction 11. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A505 (sign Luton Central). At the next roundabout, take the second exit (sign A505) and then at the next traffic signals turn left into Waller Avenue (no sign). At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A5228. This will take you around Luton without hitting the centre traffic. At the lights, turn right following signs for A5228 (Town Centre) then at the next lights turn left (sign A5228 – Airport, Hitchen, Bedford). From here, follow all signs for Hitchen – A505. At the roundabout in Hitchen, take the A602 Parkway (sign Stevenage). Continue to follow signs for A602, Stevenage until you join the A1(M) south (sign London). Then leave at the next junction (7) following signs for Stevenage, Ware. Cross two roundabouts before the floodlights of The Lamex Stadium will be seen on your right. There is a large free car park on the left just passed to stadium entrance. Distance for this route is about 157 and you should allow three and a quarter hours. Postcode is SG2 8RH.

Refreshments – There is a Retail Park just north of the ground off Monkswood Way, which boasts the usual Pizza Hut, McRonalds and Burger Bin. The Stevenage supporters bar, (Stripes?), usually allows visitors and has always been welcoming on previous visits. If you go a little further along Broadhall Way and take a right at the next roundabout you will find "Our Mutual Friend" pub on Broadwater Crescent. This is a very decent estate boozer with well-priced food and a good selection of hand pumps, which often include a cider. The town centre is a good fifteen to twenty minute walk up Monkswood Way but will provide the opportunity to try The Chequers or The Red Lion in the old town High Street. The local 'Spoons is The Standard Bearer at Unit 1 The Plaza!

Enjoy.

SHAKERS NOT STIRRED

Of the 116 teams in senior English football, which has recorded the fewest home wins this season? An uncomfortable question as an impressive Bury side barely needed to engage third gear in order to overcome a mediocre Hereford side in this afternoon’s Edgar Street clash. A well deserved 3-0 victory saw the Shakers strengthen their promotion prospects, whilst the Bulls, unchanged from their victory at Oxford, dropped a couple of places in the table.

The warm-up lap had only just been completed when Steven Schumacher struck the first blow. Michael Townsend fouled Andy Bishop some 30 yards from goal with less than three minutes on the clock. The influential Schumacher drove a forceful shot straight at Adam Bartlett in the home goal, but a swerving, dipping curve ball evaded the keepers grasp. The Bulls retaliated by forcing a free kick of their own after Stuart Fleetwood had been tugged back, and Kenny Lunt’s attempt struck the outside of a post with Cameron Belford seemingly beaten.

Fleetwood’s perceptive cross was then flicked on by strike partner Waide Fairhurst to Harry Pell, whose header was deflected for a corner by the diving Belford. However, it was the visitors who created more chances. Despite annoying the Meadow End faithful by an unpunished foul on Ryan Green, Kyle Bennett was proving a determined and skilful opponent. He had one shot comfortably saved, but showed tenacity and doggedness in not allowing the home defence the time to clear with accuracy. Then record breaker Ryan Lowe unselfishly cut the ball back for the diminutive Bennett at the near post, and his shot was only marginally wide.

Waide Fairhurst in control

Fleetwood and Fairhurst both had chances to achieve parity, notably when Richard Rose assisted the attack in setting up Fairhurst, and a fine effort flashed past the post. It did seem, however, that the Shakers defence, expertly marshalled by the unmistakeable bandannaed and unflappable Efetobore Sodje, were holding firm. Joe Colbeck, chasing back, then lost possession and almost presented Bennett with a golden opportunity to double the lead, but the shot was weak. The interval arrived without further mishap.

HT: HUFC 0 BURY 1

An early second half sortie from Hereford almost succeeded. Lunt and Fairhurst combined well and our Ken’s shot was beaten out by Belford; the ball almost fell invitingly for the onrushing Fleetwood. Then, with 51 minutes gone, Bury scored a second. The Bulls had plenty of chances to clear as the marauding Bennett went on a run, but these were not taken, and the loose ball ran for Schumacher to side-foot home and double his tally. The prolific Lowe then skied a shot when well placed.

Ryan Green burst into the box to receive a return pass from young Pell, and his flick to Fairhurst was slightly behind the striker, causing him to check his run before shooting tamely. Joe Heath and Rob Purdie played Fleetwood in, but his hanging cross caused little danger. More promising was Fleetwood’s own attempt to drive a shot in at the near post, but once more, the ball went wide. Bury’s superiority at this stage was tangible, and it was easy to comprehend the optimism from the visiting fans (one of whom produced an old fashioned rattle at one point). By contrast, the Bulls seemed bereft of ideas, and distribution from the back was, at times, very poor. Also puzzling was the use of substitutes, largely replacing one ineffective midfield by a different, but equally unproductive one. Indeed, at no stage in the second half did it seem likely that the home side could get anything from the game.

Ryan Green getting the better of Lennell John-Lewis

The only other matter to be settled was whether Ryan Lowe could score for an amazing ninth consecutive game. At this juncture, we will gloss over the fact that, at least to my untrained eye, the one he claimed in midweek at Shrewsbury looked suspiciously like an own goal. Anyway, with four minutes to play, Townsend clumsily brought Lowe down, and Mr Phillips, one of the better officials seen recently, awarded a free kick. The defence, despite presumably searching “high and low”, (I know, I’m sorry) were unable to locate Ryan Lowe, and the striker connected with Scumacher’s driven cross to carve his name into the Gigg Lane history books.

FT: HUFC 0 BURY 3

Attendance: 2650, including 332 Shakers.

HUFC: Bartlett, Green, Kovacs, Townsend, Heath, Colbeck (McQuilkin 71), Lunt (Purdie 59), Rose, Pell (Featherstone 76), Fleetwood, Fairhurst.
BURY: Belford, Picken, Skarz, Lees, Sodje, Worrell, Schumacher, Bennett (Jones 83), Mozika (Sweeney 89), Bishop (John-Lewis 68), Lowe.

Edgar's New Friend

Hereford United's mascot, Edgar, has a new friend.

They were helping to support the Marie-Curie appeal at Edgar Street this afternoon.

At half time both played as goalkeepers in a Junior Bulls match.

And afterwards Edgar looks as though he's getting a telling off.

The Marie Curie appeal this afternoon at Edgar Street was part of a Football Week for the charity. All 72 Football League clubs will be working together to help raise money and awareness of Marie Curie and their community nurses.

Marie Curie was selected in September 2009 by The Football League Board to be the official charity partner for the 2010-11 campaign. The decision was made following a vote by over 25,000 fans on the official Football League website which saw Help for Heroes and Marie Curie Cancer Care selected as the two preferred charities from a shortlisted five.

Founded in 1948, Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UK's largest charities. Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, it expects to provide care to more than 31,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its hospices this year. The charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the community to provide end-of-life care, totally free of charge, for patients and their families in their own homes.

Nine Goals in Nine Games For Lowe

Bury manager, Alan Knill, heaped praise on Ryan Lowe for scoring nine goals in nine games, the most recent being at Edgar Street this afternoon.

"23 goals this season. He's a top player," Knill told BBC Manchester.

"When somebody enjoys playing in a team their form rises. Every time he's in front of goal you think he's going to score."

As regards the game Knill felt it was a great start for his side.

"1-0 away from home, then the home team has to come out. Our goalkeeper has made some good saves for us.

"I thought we dominated the second half. I expected them to come out more

"I thought we controlled it. I was delighted with the players. 3-0 that's nine goals in a week. A good away performance.

"Fortunately for us we have some players who can put it in the back of the net."

Very frustrating game said Pell

Harry Pell, the yound midfielder on loan from Bristol Rovers, admitted that Hereford United didn't get into fifth gear against Bury this afternoon.

"We've had a good run of games but today we weren't at it," Pell told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"It was a very frustrating game. We didn't really get into our fifth gear.

"Their first goal was unlucky. The ball moved all over the show.

"Since I've been here Bury were one of the best sides we've played. They looked comfortable all over the pitch."

Pell spoke about being at Hereford and the extension of his loan deal.

"I'm very pleased about that. It's very good to have a manager that brings confidence into a young player.

"I'm a central mid-fielder but at the end of the day I'm here to do a job. Whereever the gaffer asks I'm more than happy to do.

"I like to join Fairhurst and Fleetwood and hopefully the goals will start coming.

"I've hit the post and been I've unlucky again today."

Silly Fouls Lose Games said Pitman

In his post match interview Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman admitted that the Bulls lost to the better team on the day but silly fouls by his players didn't help.

"We knew it was going to be a very tough game," Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "We would have taken a point if offered beforehand.

"At 1-0 we huffed and puffed. But if you concede after two minutes you're not giving yourselves a chance.

"Again it's silly fouls that we needlessly give away. You keep doing that and you put yourselves under pressure.

"At 1-0 we might have well nicked something and got a point but their second goal killed it and the third one was just silly again.

"Bury played very well and maybe this (defeat) was something we needed to realise that we are still in a dog fight with the rest of them."

Kenny Lunt and Harry Pell were subbed during the second half, both had been booked.

"We didn't want Kenny or Harry to be booked again. Harry started to get a little bit frustrated with the game as it was going."

Reminded by Keith Hall that the Bulls away record is much better than the home one, Pitman said that they want to win at home.

"We seem to be a bit more disclipined away from home.

"And I said to the boys you can not turn it on and off like a tap. You have to do it every week."

Hall then questioned the loyalty of the Hereford United supporters given the home form. Some left early this afternoon.

"We've just been beat by a team that are second or third in the League. We've been on a run where we've only lost two in twelve games.

"If people think it's going to be turned so quickly, they are totally naive. It's not going to happen.

"We are down there for a reason and we need everybody, the fans, the support of everybody around the football club. Otherwise we're all going to be in trouble."

Bulls Humbled At Home

The Bulls lost today's League Two match with Bury 3-0 at Edgar Street.
An early mistake gifted the Shakers an early opener and the Bulls struggled to get back into the match with Bury lethal up front but vulnerable at the back.
Full report later.

Suggest a Track for the Bulls

Hereford United are looking for some new music for the team to run onto the Edgar Street pitch just before the start of each game.

And if anyone has a track in mind then this afternoon's BBC Hereford and Worcester Sport on Saturday programme will be waiting for a call.

Some suggestions were sent to the station yesterday morning but more are wanted.

"We’re looking for a fanfare or some stirring music for the team to run out to, a song that everyone can join in with and sing and possibly something to play when we score," explained Tim Russon, Hereford United's vice-chairman.

"We’ll still be playing Danny Lee’s wonderful anthem from the seventies before every game but we want the fans to have a say in what other sounds and songs they want to hear and sing at Edgar Street."

Terry Goodwin will be presenting Sport on Saturday this afternoon which will also have a preview, reports and post match interviews and reaction from this afternoon's game at Edgar Street where Bury will be the visitors.

News Round Up

Port Vale bidder Mo Chaudry has given the club's board until next Friday to accept his bid for the club. Club chairman Bill Bratt says Chaudry is attempting to force the club into Administration with his valuation of Vale Park, with the club performing their own valuation well over Chaudry's figure. Torquay have signed Derby midfielder Ben Pringle on a months loan. The 22 year old has made 22 appearances for the Rams over the last two seasons.

Plymouth Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has told the club's staff and players he is unable to pay them, and that he may need a backer to inject funds into the club to keep it going for the next two weeks. FC United of Manchester have seen their hopes of moving into their planned Ten Acres Lane ground dashed after Manchester City Council slashed the funding due to the site thanks to budget cuts. The club will now seek an alternative venue.

Kidderminster have rejected an approach from Grimsby for manager Steve Burr. Bookies have made Luton assistant boss Gary Brabin the new favourite, although the local Grimsby press claims that Mark Cooper remains a target and that he turned down the job in the hope of landing Northampton's vacancy. Kidderminster have also appointed a member of the club's Supporters Trust to the board.

Cambridge have decided to retain caretaker boss Jez George until the end of the season. The board say the decision is due to financial constraints at the club, with former boss Martin Ling and his assistant yet to agree a settlement on their contracts. Aldershot striker Danny Hylton has signed a new contract with the club, saying the change of management made him want to stay after he almost joined Wimbledon in January.
