Watkins In NLP Team Of The Week

Bulls winger Marley Watkins has been named in the Non-League Paper's Team of the Week.

The 21 year old scored for the third successive game with his strike against Ebbsfleet yesterday, with the paper awarding him an eight for his performance. Sean Canham also received that mark.

Watkins is joined in the XI by former Bulls defenders Tony James and Jordan Rose.

Dodd Upbeat About Future

After yesterday's HUISA AGM, chairman Keith Dodd spoke to BN.

"It's been quite a good year, apart from what happened on the football pitch," said Dodd.

"The 50/50 match day draw brought in around £7000 and we've donated over £8000 to the football club.

"It's been used for a lot of things. There was some refurbishment of the gym. We also did the disabled area.

"It also been used to support the new Starlite Rooms and Addisons Bar.

"There have been a lot of unexpected things in there like the extractor fan which was a ridiculous amount of money, the cost of the lift for the disabled.

"So we've helped out in there and will continue to do so.

"We're now sponsoring one of the junior football teams - the under 16's.

"They will have HUISA football shirts which is nice. Hopefully some members will go and see them play."

Dodd is very pleased with how well the Starlite Rooms are bringing in much needed extra income to Hereford United.

"We're hoping to get to £7,000 per week. That income is essential and without that the summer months would have been very difficult.

"The Starlite Room is booked up very near to Christmas. I've booked shows myself and I've found it difficult to get a couple of dates.

"We're keeping the Christmas period for dinner dances and things like that but the success of the Starlite Room is going from strength to strength and there's even plans for a wedding brochure.

"There's also been money spent on the VP (vice-president's) Club so we can use that facility as well.

"So we've that the VP, Radfords, Starlite and Addisons hopefully all earning income on a regular basis off the pitch.

"That all adds to the turnover which helps the playing budget.

"It's all good news really.

"And now we've had a good start on the field, let's hope that will continue."

HUISA AGM Report

HUISA held their AGM at Radfords yesterday at mid-day. Keith Dodd chaired the meeting and there were about 20 members present.

The treasurer Nicky White told the meeting that HUISA had lost £303.21 in the year to July 31st but still had a reasonable balance in the bank.

HUISA had given £8112 to the club in the past year mainly to help with the work at the Starlite Rooms.

There had been an increase in income from the 50/50 matchday draw which it was hoped could be even higher this season. More help was wanted to sell tickets.

Richard Burkins reported on the away travel. He said that HUISA had run coaches to every game last season except the Tuesday night fixture at Gillingham.

Three coaches had been booked for Tuesday's match at Newport.

Keith Dodd then gave his report in which he said that great progress was being made off the pitch at Edgar Street.

Much needed extra income from coming from the Starlite Rooms which would help balance the club's books.

He hoped more supporters would join HUISA as membership was now only £10 for adults and just £5 for concessions.

Few Coach Seats Remaining For Newport

As at this morning HUISA have 12 places remaining on their third coach for Newport.

Any supporter wishing to book a seat can leave their name and telephone number with staff at the Starlite Club and a HUISA committee member will get back to them on Monday evening. Otherwise try the club on Tuesday morning.

Coaches are due to leave Radfords at 5.30pm. Cost is £9 for members and £11 for non-members.

Meanwhile Newport County are continuing to sell tickets to their supporters for the game against Hereford United on Tuesday evening.

Their Club Office Ticket Booth will be open tomorrow (Monday) and their Main Ticket Office will re-open on Tuesday at 9am.

News Round-Up

Kidderminster have announced that defender Exodus Geohaghon has asked to leave after receiving an 'offer he couldn't refuse' from Mansfield, according to manager Steve Burr. The pointless club left the big defender, and club captain, out of yesterday's match with Dartford and will also be without midfielder Jack Byrne for some time after Burr revealed he had ruptured an achilles during that match.

Barrow say they have had a contract offer accepted by an un-named winger, but the player was going to 'do the right thing' by playing in his current club's FA Cup match on Saturday. The deal will be concluded on Sunday. Ebbsfleet signed keeper Lucas Menz ahead of their trip to Edgar Street. The Canadian, 23, played for Vancouver Whitecaps last season, and has been searching for an English side since January.

Macclesfield signed striker Chris Holroyd ahead of Saturday's games, with the former Cambridge striker scoring on his debut. The 25 year old, currently with Preston, joins on loan until January. The Silkmen have also loaned out two players, with summer signing Andre Da Costa and former youth teamer James Bolton signing on for Workington Reds for an initial month.

Bristol Rovers' match at Wycombe was called off yesterday after 65 minutes after the stadium was struck by lightening. The game was called off by the stadium safety officer amid concern about nearby electricity pylons. Hartlepool failed to make the trip to Leyton Orient after staying at a nearby hotel. An accident on their M11 turned their 20 minute trip into more than two hours when the match was called off at 3.30pm.

BET FEEBLE NUDIST ORGANISATION LOSE TO BULLS (9,6)

The Ultimate answer to Life, the Universe and Everything is commonly held to be 42, exactly the number of intrepid visiting fans from Ebbsfleet at Edgar Street for this afternoon’s entertainment.

Even before kick- off, it seemed probable that they were not going to like what they saw, the team coach having broken down near Wycombe, thus necessitating a 90 minute delay to the proceedings. Skipper Luke Graham returned to the fray after his commentating stint last week, and his early recovery from injury was particularly welcome as Stefan Stam had more important matters to attend to..

Once underway, the Bulls seemed determined to build upon their promising start to the season. Harry Pell and Sean Canham exchanged passes, and were denied by a linesman’s flag before Marley Watkins shot narrowly wide of Preston Edwards’ post. A timely intervention by Andy Gallinah set up Canham for a chance, but his shot lacked power, and then Pell’s strong gallop through the midfield was thwarted by a cynical tug from Liam Bellamy who was duly shown a yellow for his troubles.

With Michael Townsend in fine form at the back, calmly mopping up and clearing any danger from a seemingly sluggish ‘Fleet (all that time on a bus could not have been an ideal preparation), Hereford showed some lively and purposeful moves. Pell’s clever reverse ball almost found the eager Tom Nichols, Chris Carruthers’ delicious cross was hacked clear, and Canham forced a smart save from Edwards. Watkins then almost latched onto a through ball from Sam Clucas, and Mr Huxtable played a good advantage after Nichols was felled. Watkins showed his customary pace and awareness to pick up the pieces, and once more Edwards had to be alert to make a clearance.

Townsend under pressure from Nathan Elder
27 minutes of Bulls domination culminated in the opening goal. Watkins sprung the offside trap after he had been played in by some neat work between Canham and Nichols, and made no mistake with a drive from just inside the area. Buoyed by this, the home side continued to press. Pell showed some nifty footwork to get in a cross which was booted to safety by Paul Lorraine. Then young Nichols burst through the centre, thinking he could see clearly now Lorraine had gone (sorry!), to meet Edwards eye to eye, but the keeper was able to grasp the shot with ease. Wave upon wave of attacks eventually led to the second goal on 37 minutes. Clucas had a smart effort deflected for a corner, and the dependable Simon Clist found Watkins, who planted a pinpoint centre onto Canham’s forehead, leaving him the simple task of guiding it netwards.

Canham with his trademark goal celebration

The Bulls made further inroads before the half-time whistle without adding to their account, whilst Ebbsfleet were reduced to ten men when the hapless Bellamy (no, not that one) clattered Nichols and saw his second yellow card..

After the break, matters began in the same fashion as the Bulls threatened to run riot. An enterprising switch of direction from Pell gave Carruthers the chance to deliver an excellent ball into the area. It was cleared back to Pell whose fierce shot led to a corner kick, and Clist’s goal-bound attempt was beaten out to Carruthers who drilled a low 25 yard shot in off the post. After consulting his linesman, the referee allowed the goal to stand, and the Bulls were 3 up with 49 minutes on the clock. Then, a brief reality check as ‘Fleet unexpectedly reduced the arrears.

Ram Marwa did well to cross for Moses Ashikodi, who found some space in the box to fire past Hanford. Nathan Elder then managed to rob Pell, with the ball breaking for Ashikodi, who this time fired over the bar. Elder himself was then a coat of dubbin away from connecting with a cross, though it was still the Bulls who were creating the better opportunities. Watkins and Pell continued to cause problems, Clist and Clucas remained confident and energetic, and the defence worked effectively as a unit, giving Carruthers and Gallinah ample scope to show their attacking potential..

A flurry of substitutions scarcely changed the pattern of the game. Edwards was called upon to make two saves in rapid succession, reacting quickly after being wrong-footed by a cannon from a Canham shot, and then denying the same player with an acrobatic claim. Hanford made a fine catch when under pressure from Elder and released the ball to Gallinah, who charged down the wing, swapped passes with Canham and continued into the box, only to have the ball whipped off his toes by a last-ditch tackle.

It is unusual to see a substitute’s first contribution to be the taking of a corner, but this task was given to new signing Brian Smikle with 89 minutes elapsed. His low flag kick was met at the near post by fellow sub Ryan Bowman whose diving header squeezed through a narrow gap and into the net. 4-1 would not have flattered the Bulls at all, though a last minute lapse of concentration gifted their opponents a second goal. Joe Howe was permitted to run unchallenged through the heart of the defence to reduce the deficit, a disappointing end to another impressive afternoon’s work. Bring on the Newport..

FT: HUFC 4 EBBSFLEET 2 Attendance: 1906, with the aforementioned 42 from the Eurostar station.

HUFC: Hanford, Gallinah, Townsend, Graham, Carruthers, Watkins (Evans 79), Pell, Clist, Clucas (Smikle 88), Nichols (Bowman 73), Canham.
EBBSFLEET : Edwards, Ada, Lorraine, Stone (Azeez 82), Phipp, Howe, Barrett, Bellamy, Enver-Marum (Walsh 46), Elder, Ashikodi (Greenhalgh 68).

Stefan Stam Absent with Good Reason

Hereford United defender Stefan Stam was absent from Edgar Street today but with a very good reason.

His partner gave birth to a baby daughter this afternoon.

Stam had been picked to start the game but when the news came through that the birth was imminent, manager Martin Foyle decided to bring in Luke Graham to replace him.

"Stef was playing," Foyle told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I thought he did very well at Alfreton and deserved to keep his place.

"Luke was on the bench and I had to bring him back a little bit earlier than I anticipated."

Daish Disappointed with Sending-Off

Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish has given his views on this afternoon's game at Edgar Street to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"It wasn't an ideal start (arriving late)," said Daish.

"But I'm not making excuses for that as their players had to wait around as well.

"I'm disappointed at the first half display, we dropped off and let their players have it all their own way."

Liam Bellamy was sent off just before half time for collecting a second yellow card for a poor tackle on Tom Nichols.

"I'm disappointed with the sending off, his studs may have been a bit up but they weren't above the ball.

"That's the key to me. Studs above the ball is dangerous. Studs going into a ball is not dangerous."

Foyle Delighted With Three Points.

Hereford United moved back into second place in the Conference after their 4-2 win over Ebbsfleet this afternoon, and afterwards manager Martin Foyle spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I am delighted with the three points.

"In the first half I thought we played some outstanding football.

"We played at a good tempo after what had been a long delay. It felt like a long delay for the players as they had been hanging around for hours on end.

"But we got out of the blocks and started the game well and the goals went in so at half-time it was a case could we keep it going."

The Bulls appeared to sit back during the second half.

"It's hard as we have been there as players and you take extra touches but we stopped doing the things we were doing so well in the first half."

Late Start Hits Gate

The delayed start to this afternoon's game at Edgar Street is thought to have affected the gate by perhaps as many as 200.

The news that the Ebbsfleet coach had broken down on the M40 quickly spread around outside the ground and also through the media.

Hereford United director Nick Nenadich, pictured, was interviewed on BBC Hereford and Worcester in the hope of informing some supporters of the delay.  He also took the time to talk to fans outside the ground about the situation.

Initially it was hoped that the game could start at 4pm but later this was revised to 4.30pm. That was too late for some supporters.

In the event the Ebbsfleet coach arrived at the ground just after 3.30pm.

Meanwhile Westons Cider have taken most of the advertising space above the Meadow End in a deal reputed to be worth around £4K to the club.

Ex-Bull Watch

In League One, Jake Jervis scored on his Carlisle debut as they beat Portsmouth. In League Two, Guillem Bauza scored the last as Exeter won at Accrington in front of just 1,149. John McCombe scored as Port Vale won at Morecambe.

In the Conference, Dan Preston was sent off for a scuffle as Telford beat Luton. Waide Fairhurst scored for Macclesfield as they beat Lincoln. In the Welsh Premier, Jason Price scored for Prestatyn as they drew at Llanelli.

Results Round-Up

The Bulls retake second place in the table after today's win, two points behind Tuesday's opponents Newport. The Exiles had to come from behind to beat Braintree 2-1, with Tamworth third after a 3-0 win at Southport. Macclesfield are fourth after a 3-2 win at Lincoln while Gateshead are fifth after last nights win, level on points with Forest Green and Cambridge. The Gumpers beat Woking 3-1 with a brace of goals in injury time, while the U's drew 2-2 at Nuneaton with both sides scoring in stoppage time.

At the bottom, Kidderminster are the only side to remain pointless after going down 1-0 at Dartford. Four sides have two points with Southport and Nuneaton joined by Hyde, who lost 1-0 at Mansfield, and Barrow, who went down 3-1 at home to Alfreton. In mid-table, Wrexham and Grimsby played out a goalless draw in the televised match with the Dragons having a man sent off.

Shock of the day goes to Telford, who won 1-0 at Luton and ended the game with only nine players as they picked up two of the game's three red cards. It was Telford's first away win in the Conference for over a year.

Bulls Beat Late Fleet

The Bulls Beat Ebbsfleet 4-2 in today's delayed Conference match.

Coach problems saw kick off delayed for 90 minutes but the Bulls strolled to victory with relative ease.

Full report later.

Bulls Sign Smikle

The Bulls have announced the signing of winger Brian Smikle on non-contract terms.

The former Cheltenham and Kidderminster man arrives after leaving Whaddon Road in the summer.

He previously had a loan at Edgar Street on work experience from West Brom.

UPDATE - Smikle, pictured, came on as a sub for Sam Clucas with just a few minutes of the game remaining.

Shortly afterwards he took a corner from which Ryan Bowman scored the Bulls' fourth goal of the game.

Commentary from Edgar Street

As ever there are several ways to keep up with events at Edgar Street this afternoon when Hereford United take on Ebbsfleet United.

BBC Hereford and Worcester will have a preview, full match commentary and post match interviews.

Terry Goodwin will be their commentator and summarising will be former player Gareth Davies.

The commentary will be on 94.7FM, available around Herefordshire, and on-line.

Bulls Player will also have full commentary with Jamie Griffiths.

Various sites, including BN, will have tweets from the game.

Meanwhile Hereford United are now third in the Conference table.

Gateshead won their game at Stockport 2-1 last night and move above the Bulls into second place.

Jackson Could Be Out For Four Weeks

Marlon Jackson could be missing from the Hereford United squad for up to four weeks according to manager Martin Foyle. Ten days ago the striker hurt his knee in a tackle at Tamworth just minutes before he was sent off.

"He's seen a specialist today, but I'm not banking on good news," Foyle told the OS.

"He could be out for around four weeks."

Meanwhile according to BBC Hereford and Worcester, there is better news about defender Luke Graham and striker Ryan Bowman. Both have returned to full training and could feature at some stage tomorrow.

"Ryan is back now," Foyle told BBC H&W.

"I could have probably involved him last Saturday, I took a risk going with two strikers.

"Luke's okay, he's been training all this week.

"It's good to have those two back."

However both Joe Heath and Benoit Dalibard remain side-lined.

Foyle says he's happy with how the squad is progressing.

"They are coming to training with a smile on their faces and we're on a roll at the moment.

"But it's only early days."

News Round-Up

Lincoln have signed experienced striker Colin Larkin on contract until the end of the season. The 30 year old was released by Hartlepool earlier in the summer after three years at the club. Gateshead striker James Brown has been ruled out for six weeks with a double hernia. The injury prone forward needs surgery on the problem after failing to debut so far for his new club.

Truro City chairman Kevin Heaney has stepped down for the club claiming ill health, but the local press is reporting the one-time Plymouth bidder has been declared bankrupt at Truro County Court. The BBC have been told that the CGA Holdings company of Salisbury's chairman has lodged a deposit with the Conference to ensure the Cornish side play their fixtures until September 15th. The two teams meet on the pitch tomorrow at Truro's Treyew Road home, with every bookmaker having withdrawn their match odds on the game.

Hyde have signed Blackpool youngster Liam Tomsett on loan for an initial month. The 19 year old midfielder had loans at Altrincham and Ayr last term. Woking have loaned midfielder Jay Davies to St Neots Town for an initial month. The youngster missed much of last season through injury.

Wrexham defender Mark Creighton will not play again this season after being diagnosed with a cruciate knee ligament injury. A specialist confirmed the news to the player yesterday. Former Bulls loanee Theo Robinson has been reprimanded by Derby boss Nigel Clough after announcing on Twitter he was not in the team for their last match. Clough told the press that pre-match team news should not be leaked.

Northampton have pulled out of their plan to launch a Rugby League side at Sixfields. The Rebels side was launched in December but the RFL say the club is nowhere near ready and was failing to meet requirements for their planned March 2013 start.

Weekend Starts With Stockport-Gateshead

The Conference weekend starts tonight, with Stockport entertaining Gateshead at Edgeley Park.

Either of the two sides can temporarily claim the Bulls' 2nd place in the table with a win, while the remainder of the Conference plays tomorrow.

Ten of the games kick off at 3pm, with leaders Newport travelling overnight to Braintree, Luton entertaining Telford, and Cambridge travelling to Nuneaton among the Conference frontrunners. Down the bottom of the table, the only two pointless sides meet with Dartford entertaining Kidderminster. Both sides have lost their opening three games.

One more game kicks off at 5.15pm, with Wrexham entertaining Grimsby in front of the Premier Sports cameras. The game may be available to watch in Addisons should the paying customers prefer it to Watford-Birmingham on Sky.

Foyle Expects Toughest Test So Far

Speaking to the Worcester News, Martin Foyle says tomorrow's match with Ebbsfleet will be the toughest match of the season so far.

“I think this will be our hardest test. They have a forward line that would be the envy of most Conference clubs with Nathan (Elder) and Moses Ashikodi. They are a big, strong side and we will have to defend well.”

Foyle also told the paper that he was happy with the Bulls' start to the season:
“We are pleased all-round but it is early with one home game and two away. The benchmark will be after 10 matches. I can see what could be round the corner with a few injuries and we only had two strikers at Alfreton. There’s plenty to worry about but we are enjoying what we are doing.”

The paper adds that Luke Graham is expected to return from his shoulder problem but that Benoit Dalibard, who was injured in the post-match warmdown last Saturday, and Joe Heath will miss the game with groin problems.

Newport Coach Spaces Still Available

There is still space on HUISA's coaches for Tuesday's trip to Newport.

With parking limited around the ground, and a substantial post-match traffic jam expected with a bumper crowd, it is recommended that fans travel via coach for easy entrance and exit from Rodney Parade.

Coach places, costing £9 (members) and £11, can be booked in Radfords before tomorrow's match or by calling the club office.

Meanwhile, Gwent Police have told Bulls News that bar facilities will be available to Bulls fans at the ground. They have also added that there will no enforced delay to coaches at the RV point, and that the convoy will depart as soon as all the coaches are ready at the point.

News Round-Up

The Conference are investigating a potential conflict of interest after Salisbury chairman William Harrison-Allan admitted to paying Truro City's wage bill. Land Registry documents now show that Truro's ground, and the club itself, has been sold to a London based property company for £2.28million. It is currently unclear whether this company is associated with Harrison-Allan, with it's sole shareholder and Harrison-Allan refusing to answer reporter's questions.

Newport have appointed lottery millionaire Les Scadding as their new chairman, less than a month after he originally joined the board. The Exiles have also added two more directors as they continue talks over new investment. Gateshead say the need for them to be playing in a dedicated football stadium is increasing after just 531 watched their opening home match with Forest Green. They say they need gates of 3,000 to break even at the International Stadium.

Barrow midfielder Alex-Ray Harvey is set to miss at least a month as he needs surgery on a knee injury. The Bluebirds are down to just 15 fit players currently for tomorrow's game with Alfreton. Cambridge boss Jez George is expecting full back Kevin Roberts to be out for several months with a hip injury. The 22 year old has missed the last two games and is due to undergo more scans on Tuesday to determine the extent of the problem.

Alfreton have loaned midfielder Jake Moult to Altrincham for three months. The 23 year old has not featured this season for the Reds after starting 33 Conference games last term. Nuneaton have allowed winger Eddie Nisevic to join Brackley Town. The 21 year old has been with the club since their reformation but leaves in search of regular football.

Stockport have released Carl Piergianni and Cameron Darkwah after failing to agree new contracts with the pair. 20 year old defender Piergianni was a regular last term, while 19 year old midfielder Darkwah made sporadic appearances but both rejected new deals during the summer to fit in with the club's reduced budget. The pair had both made sub appearance this season for the Hatters.

Woking have released a picture of a man they are looking to identify after a supporter encroached onto the pitch during their game with Dartford. The Cards face a FA misconduct charge after the man was reported to have assaulted one of the Dartford players. Mansfield boss Paul Cox has denied that summer signing George Pilkington is to quit the club after dropping his club captain to the bench last weekend.

Former Kettering chairman Imraan Ladak is back in charge of the club with ongoing takeover talks stalling. Ladak, who originally agreed a deal to sell the club to banned director George Rolls, says that the Supporters Trust did not have the funds to run the club and that a group of businessmen had failed to come up with a plan. Grimsby and Cambridge are reported to have had bids accepted for Histon striker Dan Holmans. He scored 29 goals in Conf North last season, with Barnet also rumoured to be in the hunt.

Alfreton have signed striker Ashley Worsfold on a one year deal. The former Sheff Weds trainee scored 25 times for NCEL side Parkgate last season and had been on trial at the Impact Arena during pre-season. Woking have signed keeper Ed Baldy after a trial. The 19 year old was previously with Team Bath and spent last season at Inverness.

Newport Match Coach RV Point

Late this afternoon Bulls News has received some of the details relating to the Gwent Police plans for coach and minibus travel to Rodney Parade on Tuesday.

Coaches and minibuses are instructed to use the A449 which is a continuance of the A40 travelling south from Ross-on-Wye.  On the southbound carriageway between the Usk junction and the junction with the M4 is a rest/picnic area where coaches and minibuses are to rendezvous with Police and be escorted to the ground.

Yeomans' and M&S coaches are believed to have already been briefed and any other coach or minbus drivers are asked to contact Sgt Dave Evans on 0300 333 3000 ext 4790.

No More Newport Tickets

Newport have released the following statement:

It is with great regret that after consultation with all parties concerned, we are unable to offer an increase in the allocation for away supporters for the Hereford United Match on Tuesday 28th August 2012.

The official capacity for association football matches at Rodney Parade has been confirmed in the safety certificate as 5511.

Due to the configuration of the stadium, and despite the best efforts of everyone involved, it has proved impossible to amend the segregation lines for Tuesday’s match. We will look to address this moving forward.

We would to thank Hereford United for their understanding in this matter and offer our apologies to the Hereford United fans that will miss out on the opportunity of watching this fixture.

It is unclear quite why, in a stadium that has a capacity widely reported to be over 11,000, less than half of it is available to be used when football is being played.

Daish On A Tough Week

Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish says his side is in the middle of a tough week.

After facing third-favourites Wrexham last weekend, the Fleet travel to Edgar Street on Saturday before facing title favourites Luton on Monday. Daish told the Kent Messenger:

"We couldn’t have had a tougher eight days. Hereford have started fairly well and have a pretty experienced manager in Martin Foyle, while Luton have got big players having signed Jon Shaw from Gateshead and the likes of Scott Rendell and Stuart Fleetwood as well.

"They went close last year and you have got to take your hat off to them because they are making every effort to get out of the league again. I am sure they will be there or thereabouts."

Daish will be missing midfielders Ram Marwa and Giannoulis Fakinos as neither are yet fit following long term injuries, but he is hoping for one return - in the shape of the British summer. Last weekend, his part-timers flagged in the heat with the former West Ham man hoping for colder weather this weekend:

“I hope the weather changes, as it is really tough to play football in heat like this."

He may get his wish, with Saturday's weather expected to be up to ten degrees cooler than last weekend.

Preview: Bulls vs Ebbsfleet

Forget Newport, the Bulls face a tricky game on Saturday when they face Ebbsfleet United in a Conference match at Edgar Street.

The two sides will meet for the first time since Gravesend and Northfleet 'rebranded' themselves to Ebbsfleet to take advantage of the naming of the nearby Eurostar train terminal. We played the Fleet across four Conference seasons, losing only one of the eight encounters. In the last match between the sides, six and a half years ago, the Bulls won 2-1 despite playing an hour with ten men after loanee Daryl Taylor was sent off.

The Bulls will be hoping for a bumper Bank Holiday weekend crowd to boost the coffers ahead of the transfer window closing next week. With the small squad stretched already due to injuries, boss Martin Foyle is hoping for reinforcements but the only way that will happen is if the fans back the team by turning out in numbers on Saturday. Striker Marlon Jackson will again sit out the match due to suspension, but fellow forward Ryan Bowman should be fit enough to at least take a place on the bench.

Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish brings his side to Edgar Street with a record of one win, one draw, and one loss so far this season. Their opening day 5-4 win over Nuneaton made the headlines but they have scored only once since, with former Bull Moses Ashikodi missing a penalty in their draw with Wrexham, though their frontline is potent. Ashikodi, who scored 11 times in 16 games during his previous spell at Stonebridge Road, is joined by fellow former Bull Nathan Elder and Liam Enver-Marum, who has scored twice this season to add to the 13 he netted last term.

Hereford United vs Ebbsfleet United, Edgar Street, Saturday 25th August, 3.00pm.
