New Scout this week

Hereford United expect to announce the name of their new scout this week according to Graham Turner.

"I've got one in mind," Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester last week. "I've had talks with him. It is a very important role. It's the players he keeps away from the club as well as the ones he brings to the club. It's very easy with a small squad to get one or two of the wrong type.

"I think it's further evidence of the fact that we have stabilised things. We can afford to expand areas on the playing side now and it's a vital role."

The last scout at Edgar Street, Ron Jukes, left to move to Telford in May 2003 and alledgedly took former Bulls player Matt Clarke with him.

At the time Jukes was said to be happy to move because of the potential at Telford.

"This (Telford) is another Rushden & Diamonds and it might even be better than that. I was invited to come along and I said yes, it is as simple as that," Jukes told the Shropshire Star.

"The distance to Hereford was getting a bit too much and I'm really glad to be here. It should be a very exciting time for the club."
