After years of depressing accounts, Hereford United have turned one of the best profits for many years. The results detailed in todays Hereford Times show that the club made £298,585 in the year to May 31 2004.
The improvement mainly came from two areas, gate revenue and transfer fees.
Gate revenue rose from £239,457 to £586,882 and transfer fees from £8,236 to £138,750.
On the down side, income from broadcasting was down because there had been a Sky fee for a Cup game in 2003. The figure dropped from £139,388 to £53,370.
Wages and salaries rose from £474,719 to £543,780. It is beleived part of the increase was because of bonuses paid to players after coming second in the Conference last season.
