Andy Ferrell is a left-sided player

Andy Ferrell, who played his first game for Hereford United this evening is a trialist who started at Newcastle under Sir Bobby Robson.

Newcastle-born Ferrell, 21, a left-sided player was released from Tyneside and then had a spell with Watford, but again released and subsequently failed to earn a deal at Notts County, following a trial four months ago.

Last week he was on trial at Darlington and scored for them against Harrogate.

In a question and answer session last February, Watford manager Ray Lewington was asked about Ferrell.

"We all feel Andy has got potential but has not improved as much as we'd hoped. But he has character - he is a great little character, and maybe... we're just looking for some signs of improvement."
