International clearance needed for Evans

International clearance is required for Graham Evans to move from Caersws to Hereford. That is why he couldn't play last Saturday said Graham Turner at yesterday's fans forum.

"He's just got that record of putting the ball in the back of the net.

"We had him watched three or four years ago and never fancied him that much. But the tip off was how well he did in the four-nations tournament in Ireland. So we invited him in for a fortnight. He took a fortnight's holiday.

"He's probably given up a more lucrative job and his wages at Caersws to give it a go full-time. (He is understood to be an accountant - ed)

"He's got something to prove and I think he will do quite well for us. He'll score goals, he's shown that in training and at Bromsgrove and Ludlow.. So I think he's got that knack of putting the ball in the back of the net. If it's tight and he gets a chance in the box, then I think he's got a good chance of putting it away.

"He's 25 and I think that puts an extra bit of pressure on him to give up a good job. I think that's a sign of ambition."

Asked about scouting Turner revealed that he has several contacts around the country including one in Wales who recommended Evans.

"It was the Welsh people who worked with him. A chap called John Relish who is the area co-ordinater for football in the community scheme. Sometimes we have meetings with him; he's also a coach. He said he's well worth looking at.

"He's tipped me off about one or two players. Perhaps we've missed them in the past and they've done quite well so when he recommends a player you take a bit of notice."
