Turner targets Sankofa?

Graham Turner confirmed that he is looking to bring in an extra centre back before the start of the season at the fans forum last night. He said that he is awaiting an answer from a Premiership player and should have news this morning.

Bulls News believes that this player could be Osei Sankofa, currently playing for Charlton Athletic. He fits the description of the player that Turner described yesterday evening.

"We are actually looking to talk to clubs about a centra defender," said Turner in response to a question about the current lack of cover at the back. "I'm waiting for an answer probably over the next twelve hours or so from a player, not with a lot of experience, who is with a Premiership club. The club has said that he can have him on a season long loan, but the player should make his mind up over the next twelve hours"

"He's had the weekend to think about it, he's playing tonight and he'll let us know tomorrow whether he'll join us on a season long loan."

A Charlton XI played again Gravesend and Northfleet last night, and won 2-1 at Stonebridge Road, where a team made up of a few first teamers, but mainly youth and reserve team players were fielded by Charlton. Although unconfirmed, it is thought that the team was very similar to the one that played agaist Grays Athletic on Monday, where Sankofa started at the back.

The twenty year old made his debut at Old Trafford at the end of the 2002/2003 season but has not featured since for the first team. However, he did sign a two and a half year contract in December 2004.

There are rumours however, that the player that Turner has been tracking is from West Ham United. If true, he may well have been targeted as a result of a scout report, as Turner told of the good scouting system the club now has in place, which possesses scouts in a number of regions including the London area.
