Marstons to support Conference

Details were announced yesterday of a deal between Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries and the Nationwide Conference Football League which will allow Marston's Smooth to become the official beer.

The two-year agreement gives Marston's Smooth access to all 66 club's websites, the official Football Conference website - www.footballconference.co.uk and the opportunity to negotiate 'pouring rights' with each club. The Marston's Smooth logo will appear on post-match interview backdrops at specific games.

It is unknown what effect this will have on Hereford United, but from the statement it looks as though Marston's could have their logo on the Official Website. And when conducting video interviews will they have to find a 'Marston's' backdrop?

The opportunity to have 'pouring rights' probably means that Marston's will aim to become the lead beer in Legends.

It has not been revealed how much Hereford United will receive from the deal, if anything.

How this will go down in cider country remains to be seen.
