In other matches, Aldershot's problems continue. Hussain Sulaimani lasted just 12 minutes after coming on as a second half sub and John Brough, making his debut, replaced Sulaimani but was himself subbed just 12 minutes later as Aldershot went down 5-2 at Morecambe.
Another five goal haul was at Altrincham, who were thumped 5-0 by Dagenham. Ex-Bull David Brown opened the scoring as Accrington won 2-0 at Burton. Exeter return to the top after crushing Cambridge 4-0, with Grays snatching a late point at home to Kidderminster in a 2-2 draw. Halifax beat Tamworth 4-0, with ex-Bull John Grant on the scoresheet. York won at Forest Green 2-0 to maintain their good start to the season. Crawley beat Canvey 3-1, the same scoreline as Scarboro beat Gravesend, and Woking beat Southport 1-0 with a late Justin Richards goal.
