Cockerill Agrees Deal Then Reads Riot Act

Woking manager Glenn Cockerill shook hands on a new 2 year deal this week, and followed it up with a frank barrage at his players.

Cockerill was unhappy after Mark Rawle, formerly a member of Boston's Conference winning side, declared himself unfit for Saturday's Trophy game and then told a radio reporter that he had no idea why he'd been left out.

Cockerill told the Woking News and Mail: "Something was said to a radio reporter, by one of my players about his fitness, which was untrue. And I don't like that sort of thing. I honestly don?t know why he said it. He told me there was a mix up with the question but I'm not sure about that. So I let the players know the true story and got into them and it seems to have sorted itself out. I had a go at all of them and it took for me to hear that story to make me do it."

Cockerill has made Rawle, who has failed to live up to his reputation since joining Woking, available for loan and fellow striker Justin Richards is poised to follow Rawle out of Kingfield with a string of scouts again watching their FA Trophy games with Northwich. Brighton manager Mark McGhee is likely to make the first move, having made the trip to Manchester himself to watch the 14 goal striker.
